December 25, 20205 yr Getting ready to leave a wet SOCA behind. If you've got 'em, smoke 'em! Climbout after scaring the local wildlife. Leaving the South American continent and heading for Africa. Faster than a speeding bullet.. Despite the impressive rate of knots, we'd need to be travelling far, far faster to attain escape velocity and head for the Moon. (This was shortly before top of supersonic descent and deceleration. Subsonic, and descending from FL300. African coastline (Liberia and Côte d'Ivoire - Ivory Coast) Turning inbound to the DIAP VOR on a radial to intercept the RWY21 ILS from as far out as possible. (FSX NOTAM less hunting around for the localiser, still dives for the floor with a not very good recovery on glideslope intercept..). Félix Houphouët Boigny International Airport (a bit of a mouthful!) is over to my right somewhere. Boigny was quite appropriate for my landing - there was a small bounce! Touchdown yet no tyre smoke.. (FSX NOTAM - I saved the flight on the approach and the reloaded as I was not getting any photoreal or autogen showning up, yet no OOM dings.... I wanted to see what saving a flight would do to the plane. Well, she kept flying, but the F.E's panel was awash with yellow lights!! Workaround was to pause the sim (I'm on approach at 210 knots remember) flick all the switches, unpause to see if any have been left . Shutdown. Merry Christmas! I do like this Concorde despite its niggles.
