January 9, 20215 yr Attempted to fly the DV20 for the first time last night. Default W&B was far forward and I couldn't config into the balance range. Anyone ditto on this? Suggestions? Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC

January 9, 20215 yr I’ve seen this too, something is out of whack. It flew ok though. I’ve noticed this in the CJ4 too, it’s very hard to add much weight to the aircraft without throwing it out of the CG limits. I just ignore it and move on. January 9, 20215 yr Author I assumed that could be the case, but didn’t bother test flying, since this was only to try out the AC. Guess this is one of those annoying little things about MSFS that isn’t a deal-breaker, but if you pile one of them on top of a few others, it begins to get folks riled up. These are the kinds of things that make me avoid add-ons. I want the core issues to be resolved before I start adding outside files. Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC

January 10, 20215 yr Author This implies that I would have to use full back trim to offset a grossly forward out-of-range CG, leaving little or no trim left for in-flight adjustments. I will have to try it just for grins. If you’ve ever built an aircraft though, this really stretches credibility. One of a constant set of faults that remind you to relax. This ain’t real. Anyone ditto on this? Suggestions? I’m getting a different glitch with the DV20, I fly straight and level, aircraft is trimmed out fine. Then all of a sudden it trims full up! this has happened tonight during a quick flight over Nantes, and several times after departing Tacoma Narrows last week. I DO NOT GET ANY TRIM ISSUES WITH ANY OTHER AIRCRAFT. January 10, 20215 yr Author Give the VL3 a try. It's billed as an ultralight (??? NOT in the U.S.), but it has pretty zippy performance and great visibility. Modern home-built types probably don't draw a lot of attention from people who aren't around these birds much, but frankly, many of them run rings around your typical Cessna. Go to any hobby airport and count the numbers of RV's you see! Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC
January 11, 20215 yr I feel like even though these aircraft are showing the CG out of limits it may not always actually be out of limits. As I mentioned above I go flying anyway and haven’t had any issues, haven’t had to do any excessive trimming or anything like that. I’m wondering if it’s more a matter of the sim incorrectly showing the aircraft as out of balance on the payload screen than it actually being out of balance. January 11, 20215 yr Author If you are able to disregard CG placement, that shows, sadly, just how lacking these flight models are. In RW, CG location effects how the AC flies and handles. The smaller and lighter the AC, the more noticeable an out-of-balance CG is. If it’s way out, your controls will be unable to compensate and it can kill you quickly. In RW you ignore CG at your peril. If you are constructing an Experimental home-built, great pains are taken to insure the AC is in balance before the first test flight. If it isn’t, it will likely be your ONLY flight! Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC
