February 5, 20215 yr A wee bit of India, Myanmar and Tibet This flight will take place in the most north-easterly part of India, with a short visit to Myanmar and Tibet. We depart from Silchar (VEKU). It is a district capital in the Indian state of Assam. We cross the westerly parts of the Patkai Mountains and land at Imphal (VEIM). We are now in India's State of Manipur. We continue east, cross the Patkai Mountains again, and the border to Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. We land at Homalin (VYHL), Myanmar. This part of Myanmar is notorious for its drug production. We head north, visit the Saramati, the highest mountain in the Patkai Mountains, and land at Kamti (YYKI), Myanmar. We cross the Pakhain Range back into India and land at Chabua (VECA), again in Assam. Chabua airfield was one of the largest bases used by the USAAF Air Transport Command to ferry supplies and personnel across The Hump to China in World War II. Chabua was headquarters for both the Assam and Bengal Wings of the India-China Division, ATC. We cross the Brahmaputra River, one of Asia's most important rivers. It is the 9th largest river in the world by discharge and the 15th longest. With its origin in the Manasarovar Lake region, near Mount Kailash, located on the northern side of the Himalayas in Tibet as the Yarlung Tsangpo River, it flows along southern Tibet to break through the Himalayas in great gorges. It flows southwest through the Assam Valley as Brahmaputra and south through Bangladesh as the Jamuna (not to be mistaken with Yamuna of India). In the vast Ganges Delta, it merges with the Padma, the popular name of the river Ganges in Bangladesh, and finally, after merging with the Padma, it becomes the Meghna and from here, it flows as Meghna river before emptying into the Bay of Bengal. About 4,696 km (2,918 mi) long, the Brahmaputra is an important river for irrigation and transportation in the region. The river is prone to catastrophic flooding in the Spring when the Himalayan snow melts. It is a classic example of a braided river and is highly susceptible to channel migration and avulsion. It is also one of the few rivers in the world that exhibits a tidal bore. It is navigable for most of its length. (Source: Wikipedia) We enter the Himalayas area and land at Daparijo (VEDZ). We are now in the Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh. We stay in this state, turn east and land at Along (VEAN). We head north and land at Machuka (VE67). The airport is an advanced landing ground of the Indian Air Force. It is used to bring vital supplies into this area. A couple of miles north is the Indian-Chinese border. We cross the border and continue to Nyingchi-Mainling (ZUNZ), Tibet. The airport is known as one of the most difficult to reach airports in the world. Additionally, the weather is usually pretty bad around here so that flights can only take place around 100 days per year. Flight plans for MSFS and LNM are here. For P3D/FSX pilots: Some of the northern India airports are available here, but not all of them. I did not find scenery for ZUNZ. MSFS Scenery: Some airfields can be found here. Aircraft: The flight has 486 miles and 7 landings. We want to cruise with about 180 knots. I will probably be in the ASOBO Grand Caravan in this livery. Please fly what you like. Recommend Departure time of 1:00PM local. Estimated Flight Departure Time: Wednesday 1900 UTC Teamspeak Voice Communication: ts.teamavsim.com MSFS Server USA East Regards Gunter Schneider

February 10, 20215 yr Well, we need an experienced and fearless airplane for this rugged territory. I have chosen the last of three C208Bs run by Makalu Air. Two have crashed, so this one is ... third time a charm! Or something like that. The Makalu Air livery (by kychungdotcom) is over at Tonga. --Mike MacKuen
