February 28, 20215 yr Hi folks. I setup a Microsoft account for my son, under my account as a family member. We log in to the same windows accounts, not separate ones. When he uses MFS, he logs into the sim using his account by switching profiles. But the Caranedo M20 that I bought on my account, isn't available to install for his account. It's asking to buy it again. By comparison, the world updates that I downloaded on my account are available to install, although it doesn't download it again, just makes it available. I was expecting that I could make the M20 available in the same way. Has anyone else encountered this?
February 28, 20215 yr The world updates are free for all users, so it makes sense to me they would just be available to everyone. Paid addons are likely tied to a single XBox account. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

Seems a bit unfair to make me buy it again for my son. I'll open a support ticket with Caranedo if that is the case.
February 28, 20215 yr As with most software, you're buying a licence to use it rather than owning the software. I would imagine that the licence would be for a single user and that your son's account makes him a second user and therefore not eligible to download the software you bought. Whether that seems fair is subjective but I can see why that may be the situation here. It's about license entitlements, not the physical files. As far as I'm aware, in-sim Marketplace purchases are tied to an X-Box account. I expect (but have not confirmed) that if you bought third party addons that get installed into the Community folder from say Simmarket, then those would work with any X-Box login into that copy of MSFS....but that may still be ok or not depending on the license associated with those addons. February 28, 20215 yr The marketplace is never the place to purchase 3PD's if you have multiple xbox accounts. Use the developers website and an .exe file instead. The modern world is silly, which requires silly solutions. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I mean I bought Xbox content also my kids can use from their accounts. Should work for msfs too considering it used Xbox login. Would be worthwhile to ask ms and open a zendesk ticket instead of asking carenado Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 28, 20215 yr Author I figured out how to make it work on both accounts without buying it again. Might not be fully legit, so I'm not going to post how I did it.

Yeah, he is. But switching that way didn't fix it. I had to get creative.

That is not how it "always was", in the pre-internet and pre-DRM days it was generally one copy could be used by one person at a time. There were no logins to tie things to. There were no logins to tie things to. You missed that I said "People conveniently ignored it". The EULA's for Software have always been one copy per computer and person. The only difference is that DRM actually enables companies to enforce those rules.
