update 1.14.5.0 endless download loop

Featured Replies

Trying to update sim, and the in-sim update keeps starting, failing, starting, failing etc. etc. the same file over and over.

There's a thread about it on the official forums: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sim-update-1-14-5-0-re-downloading-all-the-time/376129/2

How do I fix this problem...otherwise I'm sitting on a $130 unplayable game.

That's nothing new, it happens already since the release.

There are various topics on this here on the forum. In Windows Network settings set the speed of your network to something like 10MB/s and retry. It's slow but it works. After the download has finished, put the speed back up.

Yep, unfortunately know issue, had that previously and took me whopping 5 days for a complete reinstall since the download went in circles over and over again. Luckily no issues now with SU3. Anyway, no idea what you tried to get out of the loop but besides the tip above it may help to close MSFS, go to you MSFS /official folder and delete the raw/patch file it tries to download over and over again and/or also the file previous to the file. Will force MSFS into a fresh download not relying on what’s already on your HDD/SDD.

Happened to me when i had a 4g connection. The only way out of the loop was a combo of VPN and netlimiter.

The main issue with MSFS download system, is it's not downloading packet by packet, but the entire file, if there is a small error it will re-download the entire thing.

Good luck with it, it made me mad in the past until i switch to fiber

None of which did anything to help.

It appears I'm having success after changing my ethernet adapter connection speed from Auto Negotiate (1Gb/s) to 100Mb/s. Since I've done that the individual downloads complete without restarting, and I'm almost finished with the update.

EDIT:

Update completed successfully after the ethernet speed change to 100Mb/s.

I've never been able to find any of the download files. During update there is no raw/patch file that ever shows up in the official folder.

Yup, that's the simplest trick, no need to do the entire Netlimiter road.

Apologies, just double checked, the correct folder is Official/OneStore, scroll down until under the folders where you should see the downloaded installer files which will be deleted once they are decompressed by the installer/launcher.

Phil,

I'm almost certain I had looked in that folder without finding any of the files during my download troubles, but I suppose I could be mistaken. In any case once the dl started working correctly I did in fact see the download files.

Thanks

ok a start. once it goes into a downloop for a specific file then (1) pause the installation/download and note the file name, (2) access the folder and (3) delete that file and/or the previous one, too. Either continue with the installation or close launcher and restart it. This process may be required multiple times, eventually it should succeed. other topics like disabling ipv6 of your network adapter if enabled or manually throttling the download speed may (or may not) help.... good luck!
