March 18, 20215 yr After getting MSFS 2020, I started probably within a week or so getting CTDs. One after another. I figured out that probably 50% of my flights were getting a CTD, usually from about the halfway point in a 120 mile flight , all the way to getting them on final approach. At this point, I was seriously considering getting P3D version 5, although I knew this was going to be a big let down after seeing how good MSFS can look, when it isn't crashing. I felt like every flight was like playing Russian Roulette with three bullets in a six shooter. Then someone posted about the CTD Vaccine on this forum, and after thinking about it , I decided to give it a try. I flew for entire day and no CTD. I thought this was like a minor miracle. Day 2 NO CTD, and so on. Now this was about the same time that the latest update to MSFS was launched. Now here it is, many days later and not one CTD in all this time, and I fly at least 2-3 flights a day. This sim for me now, is very stable, and I am delighted with how it is running. I started thinking today, that I doubt if this can just be the results of the Vaccine alone, and it might also be that Asobo changed something in the last update which drastically reduced the chances of having a CTD. Now for the sake of knowing, I guess I could undo the vaccine and see what happens, but frankly I am not into fixing something until it breaks, so I am going to leave everything exactly like it is now. Wondering if others are seeing this reduction in CTDs since the last update?
March 18, 20215 yr I would say Asobo, I didn't (couldn't) do the vaccine thing. and despite having at least a couple of ctd's prior to Sim u3 i have not had one. On the other hand there were some Win 10 updates, and Xbox app updates around the same time. My original ctd were due to criver timeout. But this changed in the weeks leading up to the recent update, and most were either Some SID issue, VCc runtime dll and some other weird issues flagged up AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

A wonderful system until the next mandatory update comes along and we repeat the process. I am just so grateful (touch wood) that I have had so vey few problems with MSFS and those were of a fairly minor nature which were quick to solve. But, so many people have experienced so many varied breaks, bugs and issues with each update or hotfix. We have a wonderful platform here which, in my opinion, is vastly superior, in some ways, to anything released prior. I am enjoying it immensely. Just a wee pity it was not more stable with each update. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked).
