REVIEW: Drzewiecki Design Washington National & Landmarks

Featured Replies

Normal service has been resumed! A much-requested review of DD's Ronald Reagan Washington National (KDCA) and a little look at the Washington Landmarks add-on as well.

Mind boggling detail and that night lighting is beautifully done, excellent job DD.... Another great review Filbert.

Dam Mr. Filbert! What an awesome airport and review. I was going to make a joke about the landmarks, but I better keep my mouth shut. 😀

As soon as I get my fps back, I'm buying this one.

MSFS

Thanks for the review Filbert, I always enjoy your videos! KDCA looks great, my only criticism is the windows... they should really be tinted a bit as it's not that easy to see into the terminal in real life. I wonder if they did this to keep the windows from sticking out in the rain/fog? If so, a good compromise to get around MSFS limitations.

For anyone interested in how the DC landmarks compare to the default sim, I took some screenshots shortly after World Update 2:

Some of the updated MSFS models seem to have higher poly counts and a bit better textures (especially the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial), but DD adds many more custom buildings and is worth the purchase IMHO. Many unique buildings have custom models and textures, such as the Watergate hotel and JFK Center for the Performing Arts next to it. Otherwise, you'll be getting variations on default landclass... it's different than MSFS default, but you probably won't find an exact representation of a hotel you stayed at (I didn't, at least 🙂 )

Thanks for this. After I had finished filming the review, it occurred to me that there were probably quite a lot of landmarks in DC by default... but it was 10pm and I couldn't face going back and doing a compare and contrast!
