Open source dataset for buildings in The Netherlands

Recommended Posts

In a similar fashion like Switzerland there is now a highly detailed open source dataset available for all the buildings in The Netherlands.

It is the result of a project of TU Delft, a big (aviation) technology university in the Netherlands.

LOD 2.2 as they call it even contains the info on sloped roofs for example.
Probably too late for this data to be included in the upcoming World Update but maybe at a later stage...

Regards,
Sylvain

Prachtig!  It would probably not be too hard to convert one of their data formats to 3d objects.   Getting the textures right from all angles would be difficult, though.   I could see them looking at best like slightly less melted photogrammetry.

Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.   Probably also capable of being much better optimized.

Wow! Really nice!

Would be great if someone experienced in this area can pick this up and try to translate this in a user friendly community addon. Not sure this is feasible but I think this is a sim changer for sure.

Hehe, thanks, Carl.   In this case it's not so much that as that I'm a Dutch student.   😄   Maar, misschien telt dat ook een beetje.
