Justsim ELLX V2 Invisible Wall

Featured Replies

Just before the piano keys on the ILS for runway 06 at Justsim ELLX V2 in P3D V4.5 HF3 I am experiencing an invisible wall which causes any aircraft to just slam into the ground. Crash detection is turned off and I am not experiencing this at any other airports apart from ELLX. I have tested both the PMDG 747-400/-8 and 777 all hitting the same invisible wall at the same spot.

Any ideas or fix would be appreciated. I wish Justsim had a support forum or email so that they could be made aware of it (if it has anything to do with the scenery).

Crash detection on in P3D ?

Many times at various airports and scenery I've found I will smash into an invisible wall.

Typically it would be related to crash zone definitions (as in the developer will develop without enabling crash detection and thus never know there are issues).

But there are also issues with P3D it seems, for example crash detection must be off when flying Orbx's New Zealand North and South islands else you'll smash into invisible walls at random intevals (LM says it's a scenery issue, Orbx says it's a P3D issue, I turn off crash detection).

Actually with crash detection off you can have some great crashes 🙂

I have ignore crashes and damage selected and crash tolerance is on easy or 0%. The issue is ofcourse still there.

Try a lower mesh resolution (about 5-18m), Maybe it is an interpolation error.

Daniel

I also suspect it's due to mesh resolution setting. There is a well documented thread on PMDG forums that goes into this bug: https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/pmdg-747-queen-of-the-skies-ii-forum/12208-flight-model-question-glitch-on-landing .

I believe invisible walls occur when you are using... 1: airplane above a certain size, 2: a scenery/airport with elevation change around the runway, and 3: a high mesh resolution setting (low numerical value). It's pretty annoying, frankly. Would be nice to have functional, precise elevation changes around runways without interference.

I am able to consistently replicate that bug with a resolution of 1m, and that thread mentions both 1m and 5m. So to be safe, I limit mine to 10m when flying heavies, and this has been reliable for me to avoid the invisible wall bug. You might prefer a different value, but I'd start with testing this setting.

Setting the mesh res to 10m from 1m seems to do the trick! After further research into the topic the last few days I came to the decision that it may just not be an issue with the scenery itself but rather P3D, well this pretty much confirmed my suspicions.

Atleast after a couple of circuits for 06 on the ILS I haven't experienced any crash into the terrain.

Thank you all for your help and tips, now to get back to running Cargolux ops...
