I am thinking of buying a Realsimgear 530. But would that only be working with a 530 or could I use it with a G1000 or GTN750. Maybe not the popup window but at least the buttons? I mainly am looking for a button to work as inner /outer knob with push cursor functionality , for flying in VR (and ocaasionaly lift off my VR headset to glance at a monitor or panel.

Unfortunately no, the physical controls will only work on the 530 unless someone has figured out a workaround that I haven’t seen yet.

You can pop out the G1000 screen and put it on the 530 hardware screen at least which I do find useful sometimes but the controls will not work.

You can control the 530 a variety of ways without having to use realsimgears (awesome) controller.

I use a stream deck with Lorby's Axis and Ohs to control the 530.  Works great.   You could also just use a regular keyboard or any HID with AAO.

I also built some rotary encoders from https://www.propwashsim.com/store/dual-encoder-kit with an arduino to read the knobs and output the turns as keypresses to the PC.   Much more pleasant using the rotary encoders than mouse.   The hardest part was coding the arduino to read the encoders but its rock solid now.

Nice thing with having the generic rotary encoders is I can use Axis and Ohs to assign them to anything on any plane instead of being stuck with it just on the 530.

You might want to take a look at the Class Echo. Works with the G1000/GNS530/GNS430.
