OMG I cant believe it! 787Mod has beaten the FBW team

Recommended Posts

Ok, sorry to make such a tabloid headline, but oh my god!

I just downloaded the latest version of the b78x mod, and what do I see? A WORKING LNAV that doesnt mess up STARS, approaches and transitions! The WT was first out making this happen, and the good guys at FBW have been busting their butts off trying to implement the WT version of the LNAV into their airbus.

Well, what do you know? The people working on the b78X has actually made it happen already, and I didn't even know! I am pretty speechless right now..! Hearing that the 78X isn't any good because Asobo has put it behind a wall. Well, even more kudos to the 78X modders who actually made this happen. It has simbrief import, and a bunch of other stuff. If you are in any way inclined towards the tubeliners, you definately need to have a go at the 787mod! Jeebus!

Well. I tried it this week and the Direct-to was 100% broken but maybe it was due to Navigraph update. I will have to retry

Doing a direct-to (selecting the waypoint in the legs page and replacing the top waypoint) works 100% for me.

Like I said, I did it the day SU4 release and the aircraft was lost. Couldn't go to any WPT. Only HDG mode was working.

Found a few optional menues related to the mod. You can set the IRS align time, you can select the measuring units (gallons and metric etc), a loading menu, and a simbrief import. Couldn't be easier.

I was super light when taking off (25t of fuel and just a few pax), and she very realistically had low vspeeds of around 135 kts or so. She took off beautifully, and she is following LNAV and VNAV. She has a banana indicator, and a TOC. She does a full STAR into approach and transitions without skipping any points. FPS is great! I am increadibly happy right now for finding this tonight. Very surprised!

On TOC you can see she throttles back and starts descending automatically (true boeing logic) as long as you have set a lower altitude. EDIT: I do notice the descent rate is too great for what is needed, so a bit of help with the VS will go a long way. Still,  I am truly impressed.

Are you using the WT branch you posted above?

Does it idle very quickly to 40% thrust on climb? The default 787 does that to me 😞

I am using the branch i posted above, yes. From what you are saying I understand that they have implemented the WT LNAV?

Yeah the name of the branch suggests they have integrated the Working Tile flight plan manager into the 787.

Did they fix the borked nose wheel steering, where there is only 10 degrees of deflection?
