June 6, 20214 yr Greetings! Recently, I downloaded P2ATC and have been going through the trial period. However, on two occasions while in use, the program has slowed a crawl to the point it's unusable. It no longer detects my PTT, and the window begins redrawing extremely slow. I've also noticed other things on my system lag but only when P2ATC and FSUIPC7 are open. If I close both them, it immediately stops lagging. I have tested this on multiple occasions now and repeatedly it begins working like normal once I close these two programs. Here is a screenshot of P2ATC while the issue is occurring: https://i.imgur.com/UlqglJr.jpg Here is a snip of my task manager while the issue is occurring: https://i.imgur.com/An1oOU9.png My system specs are as follows: Intel i9-10900 3.7 GHz G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB DDR4-3600 EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB XC ULTRA Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD I am not meaning to point the finger at P2ATC and/or FSUIPC7, however, it does appear to only be when these programs are active. If someone has any suggestions on what might be causing this or what I might do to resolve it, I would appreciate it.
June 6, 20214 yr Commercial Member Slowdowns as you describe are usually the result of high memory or CPU usage. It's obviously not the issue, based on your Task Mgr. screenshot. If the lag only occurs while you are connected to the SIM, it's possible that there is a problem with MSFS SimConnect. If the "lag" is happening when you are opening the SID, STAR or APPR windows for the first time while building a flight plan, that is normal. It takes a lot of time to build all the routes and display them the first time on the map. After the first time, it should be faster. Looking at the screenshot of P2A, I have never, ever seen P2A like that. That is obviously a Windows painting issue where it is not redrawing the screen properly. Unfortunately, that could be almost anything and is unique to your installation. I would check to be sure you don't have P2A set to a very low priority in Windows, which might cause this if MSFS is at high priority and is demanding all of Windows attention. Dave

Dave Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, it does not happen when opening SID, STAR, or APPR windows. It generally has happened mid-flight. Additionally, the slowness never goes away. That said, I have developed a couple of theories I plan to test. First, I use MSFS Companion and it occurred to me that I think (still need to test this) that the lag started after I opened the "Autopilot" window in P2ATC. I am wondering if those two conflict with each other, which I feel would make sense, to cause this issue. Second, I was using several other tools (Navigraph, Little Navmap, etc.) and had them open so I had multiple applications tracking my flight. I can't help but wonder if this was possible causing conflicts/issues. I plan on testing this later this week.

I tend to have Volanta, LNM, Navigraph and SimRateBandit open whilst using p2a and never seen the issue.... also had (at one point), the above plus flightSimToolkit, FSXTracker & LRM when comparing trackers... Only main difference is I have 64gb ram, but 3070 rather than 3080... G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
June 8, 20214 yr Author @Dave-Pilot2ATC I was re-reading your post today and something occurred to me. Specifically, you mentioned in your reply that there may be an issue with MSFS SimConnect. However, I do not have that installed. As part of the process to install P2ATC, I did install FSUIPC7 which is what I thought it needed. Am I mistaken or did I perhaps miss a step? Thanks!
June 9, 20214 yr Commercial Member No, you didn't miss a step. MSFS includes SimConnect and it is used by FSUIPC7 to communicate with MSFS. There were some major SimConnect issues in earlier versions of MSFS, so there may be some lingering ones. Dave
