The Alps: Excursion 1

The Alps: Germany-Austria-Switzerland – Excursion 1

The Alps are the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe, stretching approximately 1,200 km (750 mi) across eight Alpine countries (from west to east): France, Switzerland, Monaco, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, and Slovenia.  There is a lot to cover in these scenic areas and will try to travel much of the Alps in a series of excursions: this being the initial voyage into the Alps.

Documentation:

The flight plan and full itinerary can be found (HERE).

Aircraft:

This is a flight of shorter hops in varying elevation. The length of the flight is 202 nm but often at higher altitudes so you need a bit of power. Any of our favorites, Ie: Piaggio P149, Mooney M20, Piper Arrow: Standard or Turbo (or others) will be fine: Will expect to fly the Piper Arrow Turbo but as ever, fly what you like.

Scenery (Freeware): (All Optional but they do greatly enhances the “scenic” in this excursion)

If you find that the photogramettry scenery is a wee bit gaggy, (depending on your system), just turn if off or yank it out!. lol

Nice one Norm. 👍

Thanks Ron. Whew, I thought I took a wrong turn..(I don't usually go up and over as you know but my style is rather finding a way through the terrain at low level.. but was high today only to try to highlight some somewhat interesting Swiss spots..

The next one, when ever that might be (in the fall I guess), will more resemble my regular flight style: that being way down low in the valleys and river levels-carving through the terrain like it was a race or dogfight! lol.  (Maybe in a P149 in a suitable Swiss cheese livery).

That was a great flight, I don't care what some of those other guys said.  The Piper Arrow IV Turbo coupled with that scenery, I was in awe several times.  It was a great opportunity to use the equipment you have.
