June 28, 20214 yr I am not an astronomer, but I believe the color of the moon as we perceive it is altered by any atmospheric impurities...same thing with the sun, especially at sunrise or sunset. sherm
June 28, 20214 yr I would assume EA is taking into account the angle of the moon in relation to the horizon which means you are viewing through more of the atmosphere (i.e. more dust particles, polution and smoke to view through at that low angle). Reddish tones are typically caused by the bluer wavelengths of light being scattered in the atmosphere thus producing a reddish color as we observe it via our eyeballs.
