July 31, 20214 yr Hi, I think the whole update process for MSFS is a pain in the.... The need to split the update between MS store and the game itself is troublesome and I already had to completely reinstall windows twice because my store app wouldn't launch anymore, no matter which tipps and tricks I tried, hence I couldn't update and play it anymore. So I was thinking to switch to the steam version of the game. This of course only if there are less problems associated with the update process (and the game itself of course) Would you recommend this or rather stick with the store version? Thank you! July 31, 20214 yr On the Steam version, you still get an update through Steam and then you have to open up MSFS to get the bigger update. Although with that being said, I've never had any major problems updating MSFS (I have it on Steam) and the only issue I had with SU5 was the slow download speeds but that would be related to the servers getting hammered. Vote to fix transparent sun visors having no effect on the sun glare effect in MSFS at: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sun-shades-sun-visors-not-influencing-light-in-cockpit/691565/

July 31, 20214 yr You will have the same issues on Steam. Core game content (usually around 1 GB) gets downloaded through Steam (or MS Store) and then all the packages + store addons have to be done via the game package manager regardless of the version. Usually the MS Store part goes smoothly, the problems arrive when you launch the game and you see the "Install Manager" screen pop up. This is identical on all versions of the game.
