Open Developer Mode in MSFS2020 and display the FPS counter. It also gives you the usage of memory for the CPU and GPU. After SU5 I think anything over 32GB is overkill....

I have 32GB and I think I never had over 18GB CPU usage after the latest update, but your mileage may vary....

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

noticed the exact same thing on DV mode but wanted to see what others had to say .

I had 64GB for a while but ended up using 32GB for a second rig. The only software that I use that uses more than 32GB is DCS in very specific scenarios with multiple land units. MSFS does not need that much ram, especially after the recent optimizations.

SU5 seems to use 6.8GB max, so anything over 8GB is overkill ATM. Rumour has it that we may be getting system resource sliders in a near future update, so if you have more RAM you can allocate it to FS2020. We'll just have to wait and see how much it allows you to allocate and what benefit that has to know what the optimal amount of RAM is for it.

32 is plenty, unless you use a lot of programs and such running in the background, which is what memory is primarily used for. I typically run MSFS, Little Navmap, and my web browser for various things but commonly use it for referencing charts. All that together, which I consider the minimum I want to have running while flying, clocks in around 18gb of usage. So, 32 is very much the sweet spot.
