very basic flying question and I should know this

Featured Replies

I should know better but

Coming from p3d onto msfs I have a bit of an issue that I cannot remember for the life of me is correct

I do not  have rudder pedals so in p3d it was easy to link it to aileron input but in msfs I cannot do that .

I'm using the honeycomb alpha controls so when i start a turn in flight  does'nt matter if its left or right, I set my turn then i can return my yoke to the centre position  to straighten out i have the got to turn the yoke in the oposite direction. Is this normal or is it because I do not have rudder pedals?

I should add I'm using the fbw a320 mostly. I know a single engine prop has a tendancy to turn left anyway

cheers

I will now go and stand in the corner

Yes that's how it's supposed to be. Any which way you bank the plane, is the way it will remain until you correct it.

It should be noted that the Airbus fly by wire system will maintain any bank or attitude you set so that you, the pilot, can go back to eating the large steak dinner on your tray table. 😂

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

In simplified terms, Airbus have attitude hold that is always on. Stick the nose where you want it, release the stick, and it'll maintain that. If you've experience of CWS/TCS on other types, it's basically that.

Yes I know it's more complicated than that in reality, I am well aware of ELAC, SEC, PRIM, Normal law 1G flight, Alternative Law, Alpha Floor, Alpha Max, Alpha Prot, how beyond the bank limit you have to hold the stick, how it backs off trim to enable a conventional flare, overspeed protection yadda yadda yadda)

in real life yes, in the sim - not so much, still a large amount of drift (default or FBW)
