September 12, 20214 yr As conclusion to my earlier post, on Austrian Airlines, please find, below, a collection of images, of Austrian B777-200ER (GE), "Heart of Europe", captured, from its mid-flight (FL160) cruise, to landing in Munich/EDDM. These pictures are taken from a complete (LOWW->EDDM) flight, which, though, spans a short distance of just under 220 flight miles (~190 nms)...didn't know it would be that short, but, it suited me well...🙂.... And, as I'd indicated in my Part I, this, flight, here, symbolizes the very first (Junkers-13) flight of the (parent) Austrian Airways, between the two same airports, back, on May 14, 1923, nearly a century ago... Per Wiki, "The landing (then) took place in Vienna Jedlesee; there occurred a conversion to float and the connecting flight to Budapest (followed)..."...I'm suspecting that may have something to do with reliance on the Danube, for navigation....while, here, I've merely clicked LNAV/VNAV...🙂.... Austrian has surely come a long way...!! Hope you enjoy this set of 777 images...!! If you wish to see RW pictures of this neat-looking Austrian B777, please search for "B777 OE-LPB Heart of Europe images"...Thanks for viewing...!! September 13, 20214 yr Great shots of Austrian´s biggest jet! Now that you´re through with Austrian Airlines, how ´bout featuring Lauda Air, Austrian Formula One champion Niki Lauda´s (+) own airline that startet with two Fokker 27 and ended with a fleet of 17 Boeing 737, 11 Boeing 767 and 3 Boeing 777-200ER and was later merged with Austrian Airlines? Not to mention the tragedy of Lauda Air flight 004, when the Boeing 767-300ER named "Mozart" crashed in the jungle of Thailand after the left reverser had uncommandedly deployed at Mach 0.78 in mid air, killing all 223 souls on board. Had recently noted that Lauda finds frequent mention in Austrian history,...an interesting airline...in its own right...(And, I always look up the Incidents and Accidents Section of the Airline Wiki,...yes, that's the only (unfortunate) event listed there for Lauda Air..)....
