September 21, 20214 yr Just curious, In flight simming, would there be a noticeable difference going from 60hz to a higher refresh rate for simulators in your experience? I’d imagine playing FPS games etc. it would but I only use flight sim and no other gaming. September 21, 20214 yr Moderator With the GPU you list it would not be possible since it would be incapable of delivering 120fps. Flight sim is not like games when it comes to frame rates. 30 is perfectly useable and perhaps 40+ when panning around a virtual cockpit. On the other hand a monitor that can run at 30Hz would be more useful. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 21, 20214 yr Unless your system is capable of greater than 60 fps in flight sim faster refresh will not help. If you want the ultimate experience for flight simming buy a Gsync monitor. Make sure it is full Gsync with the Gsync hardware - NOT Gsync "compatible". i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

September 22, 20214 yr 2 hours ago, Rob_Ainscough said: Depends on the type of flying you do ... high speed aerobatic then 120Hz would help, or very fast and low military jets, or VR. Is your question specifically in regards to monitors exclusively? If so, as others have pointed out, the 1060 and i7 7700 you'd have to drastically reduce graphics quality settings and you'll still fall short of 120 FPS even at the Lowest setting. Low (96 FPS on Titan RTX - AMD 5950X resolution 5120 x 1440): Ultra (42 FPS): Save that money for a better CPU and GPU ... when/if they ever see retail prices again and not this current insanity. Cheers, Rob. I'm glad my RX 580 8 gig is adequate enough for good P3D and FSX performance. I'm waiting for XP 12 now. Don't know if it will be up to par for that or not. I would hope Laminar tries to at least beat MSFS on performance.
