CRJ-700 w/Bravo Throttle Setup Question

Featured Replies

Just getting into my Bravo Throttle Quadrant at the same time I'm starting in learning the CRJ (aerosoft). I've got my Bravo all set for various setups as per a popular youtube help video that got me set up with four solid presets. However, they don't seem to function with the CRJ. The axis controls work well enough, but many/most of the buttons don't do anything. I did notice that the throttles don't seem to really kick in properly at the right spots. I have a huge dead space below Idle that does nothing, for example.

Do I need to create a specific preset JUST for the CRJ?

Thanks.

alot of people now use a program called spad.next here is a video just show casing what spad can do, i think its around £20 it well worth it saves messing around changing in game profiles each time you want to use a new type of aircraft as the profile will auto change

I think for the throttles, the dead space you're talking about is not really part of the axis. When you pull it past the detent, it serves as a simple button.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think buying Spad.next will solve that, because it's simply not a feature of the throttle detent.

This is long before the detent (the physical one on the Bravo to be clear). I reach the graphic "Idle" location (which is about 3/4 from the top) at about the halfway point leaving half the remaining movement as essentially dead space.

And yeah, spad.next sounds like a nice feature to consider, but I don't think it has anything to offer this particiular issue.

Still need to figure out why many of the buttons don't work -- like the seven switches above the actual throttles. I've got them set to parking brake and de-icing, etc. None seem to do anything and the switches on my Alpha (Beacon, Strobe, Taxi, Nav, Land) do nothing either even though those are all set up and work on other planes just fine.

it will fix your buttons as the crj uses  LVAR commands,

THAT is interesting! Thanks. As a novice in this area, do the MS planes not use LVAR commands? It's just funny that some buttons do work, tlike the Autopilot strip of buttons.

As a long-time FSUPIC user/owner I'm very open to using a replacment controller interface FSUIPC is certainly not very intuitive so I'd love to see another take on that approach.

Some people are suggesting using something called AxisandOhs to get controllers to work properly.... Anyone heard of this one?

I started watching this and got really depressed.  I was thinking of getting this yoke/quad but after seeing this - I dont think so.  If this is what you have to do to get this up in the sim, no way.  This vid got so deep that I could not complete it.

I can confirm my throttles work properly with the crj, I also have the reversers set up and working properly…As for the switches, I’ve done some research as I’ve had this problem also with the crj, and from what I gather, there is a conflict with the way the aerosoft crj is programmed that causes issues with the toggle buttons, I’ve even heard these issues with the crj isn’t only with the bravo but with other push button type joysticks…I’m not an expert and not laying blame but this is what I read, I could be completely wrong so take it for what it is.

P.S I have individual control profiles specifically setup for most of my planes I fly in the sim.

I don’t use spad as shown in the video with my honeycomb yoke or throttle.

Yes it really sucks that you have to use complex software to get controllers to work properly in 2021.

I had really no problem with the default planes. It's once I moved to the CRJ that things got dicey.

This is something Asobo should address. There should not be a need for third-party intermediary software for this stuff. If they're serious about the serious simmer market then they need to be all over this.

its not that hard when you get your head around it, i enjoy stuff like that so i find its part of the fun of flight simming but its defo not for everyone,

The other thing that needs to be made clear is that, after reading all the back and forth stuff, this seems like an issue for Asobo. I have no such trouble with X-Plane, but that's only because their platform is now so mature. I have other issues there and am not likely to head back there.
