October 14, 20214 yr Hi, I am trying to understand how to fly the RNAV F runway 23 approach into NZQN. If I interpret the approach chart correctly I have to adhere to the following constraints: Waypoint IBABU - between 12,000 & 10,000 ft Waypoint QN529 - 8,600 ft Waypoint QN537 - 8,600 ft & Max IAS 185 kt Waypoint GUSAS (FAF) - 6,200 ft Now GUSAS is approx 8.2 miles from the runway. The airport elevation is 1,100 ft, so I need to descend 5,100 feet in 8.2 miles. If you apply the 1,000 ft / 3 mile rule, I would need approx 15 miles to descend 5,000 feet. Is my interpretation of the approach chart correct? How do you descend to the runway? Thanks for help Brgds Juergen Mader
October 14, 20214 yr Commercial Member After GUSAS continue descending cross checking your altitude vs your distance to Waypoint QN581 according table chart until your MDA: Once you have runway in sight ( at or before MDA ), you can continue following Visual Circuit to RWY05 or RWY23 ( if you don't have RWY in sight at MDA you must've performed a Go Around )
October 15, 20214 yr Author Thanks polosim, now it makes sense. I wasn't familiar with a visual circuit approach. Brgds Juergen Mader
October 16, 20214 yr Author Polosim, Question: Are you always required to fly the VISUAL CIRCUIT into Queenstown for both runways? Or can you fly a direct approach to the runways in VFR conditions? Thanks for clarification Brgds Juergen Mader
October 18, 20214 yr Author Thanks C2615 These approaches seem to be missing in the EFB, but I downloaded a hardcopy. Brgds Juergen Mader
