Costa del Sol...

Recommended Posts

I was desperate to put on a video of Sylvia's Y Viva Espana by way of a pilots guide, but it's too awful to inflict on you nice folks.

So.

Flight plan: HERE

Additional sceneries:

Ronda: HERE

Malaga LEMG: HERE

Granada City: HERE Includes Alhambra.

La Axarquia LEAX, (Leoni Benabu on LNM): HERE Which needs a Libraries HERE

Should you want them of course, but Ronda is well worth the price.

The trip is circa 250nm. So something in the 130/150kts capable aircraft wouldn't come amiss.

And finally, the one you've all been waiting for....

Recommend Departure time of 1:00PM local

 Particulars:

  •             Date and time: Saturday November 20th, 19:00 UTC
  •             Where: AVSIM RTWR Teamspeak - Casual Flights Channel
  •             Teamspeak Server Address: ts.teamavsim.com
  •             MFS Multiplayer: US East coast Server

If you want to help others enjoy the multiplayer experience,(or even if you can't give a toss) don't forget to enter your aircraft details on the multiplayer spreadsheet (linked here). Your courtesy 😉  will save others a lot of time and effort. Thanks! That applies to Texan residents as well!

Bring a cossie.

Hope to make this trip. Southern Spain is another place on my bucket list... Close to the med.                     (cossie is packed!).

After Installing MFS Sim Update 7

Just a note about some things to do after installing Sim Update 7. You all probably have gone through this already, but the list is for those who have not.

1. Clear Rolling Cache.

2. Controls. Reset the mouse to default. (Even if already set to default.)

3. Assistance Options. Asobo has reset everything to easy. Review the settings. You probably want most things to "hard". Probably a few exceptions, of course. (There have been reports of oddities concerning the flight model. Many weird problems seem to be associated with the "easy" or "assisted" options being active.) I have had this later reset to "Easy" even after making all the corrections. (Apparently, if you visit the MFS Content Manager, Asobo will silently reset your Assistance to Easy. You may have to return to the menu and fix all this each time you visit the Content Manager?)

4. DX12. Keep this at DX11. Experiment later.

5. If using the "Modern UI", you want to replace it with the new SU7-compatible version.

6. TBM930 and C208 mods. If you use the popular mods for the TBM930 or the Cessna 208 Caravan, disable them until updates appear.

7. Updates. Just Flight Arrow and Hawk. New SU7 updates are out. (Apparently some bugs remain.) The pms GTN750 has a new version up. You probably already updated the Working Title NXi from the Content Manager.

8. TrackIR. If you do not use TrackIR, then no worries. If you are using this device, you will discover that Asobo has introduced a new camera option to enable Toggle HeadTracking.

Not good for TrackIR users. Whenever you toggle the TrackIR command "pause" (probably "F9"), MFS will now trigger the Toggle HeadTracking to "off". When you subsequently toggle the TrackIR command "pause" to reengage, MFS will NOT react. The HeadTracking will remain "off" and you will not be able to use TrackIR. If TrackIR loses focus, say when you turn your head sharply, HeadTracking will turn "off" and disable TrackIR.

Two possible workarounds.

a. [Cleaner. My preference.] Assign the Camera command for Toggle HeadTracking to the same button that you have already assigned to the TrackIR command "pause." Now delete the TrackIR "pause" command from that button. Afterwards, TrackIR will reman "on" all of the time. However, Asobo MFS will not follow the TrackIR camera directions if Toggle HeadTracking is "off". It will work properly when HeadTracking is toggled "on". (In effect, you are using the MFS Toggle HeadTracking button to functionally pause TrackIR.) This is cleaner, with only one button assigned to the MFS HeadTracking toggle. However, it does not preserve your TrackIR "pause" assignment (probably "F9"). You will have to revert to the previous setup when and if Asobo fixes their mistake.

b. [Kludgy complicated.] Assign the Camera command to Toggle HeadTracking to the same button that you have already assigned to the TrackIR command "pause." Then when you hit that button, both TrackIR and HeadTracking will toggle to "off" or "on" simultaneously. Good. However, if TrackIR loses focus for some other reason (say you look at a second monitor or turn your head to talk to your partner), MFS HeadTracking will toggle "off". And TrackIR and MFS HeadTracking will be out of synch. You need to assign another way to Toggle HeadTracking. A keystroke will do the job. Or, more conveniently, you could assign a spare button for this singular purpose. This is all a little kludgy. But has the advantage that your TrackIR commands will remain in place when and if Asobo fix what they have broken. (Who knows if or when.)

Either (a) or (b) will allow you to use TrackIR for moving your viewpoint around naturally – pretty much as you could before SU7. That is great. However, you will not have the ability to shift your view and pause there. For example, you might lean forward and pause to look at a gauge or to dial a radio. When MFS toggles the "HeadTracking" to "off", it repositions the camera to the default view. Much of the time that is ok. But if you pause to look at something, the view will immediately revert. [We shall have to use more custom views to access switches, gauges, and autopilots.]

There are probably more things that we should do. You might have some suggestions.

Hope this helps,
Mike

That was quick.👍

They've fixed the trimwheel but......You have to reverse it. At least it now goes through it's full travel.
