Latest Update Took Forever To Install

Featured Replies

Yesterday afternoon about 4:00 I started the install for the latest update, #7 I think. It was finished at 9 AM today. A total of 15 hours. It was running at 1.5 to 2+ mb/sec. Speedtest.net told me my connection was 20 to 30 mbps.

Is this about right for one of these downloads or is there some problem with my equipment?

It depends on what you pay for through your internet provider and how you are connected. I pay for 1TB and get anywhere between 800-1000mb/sec wired and anywhere between 500-700mb/sec wireless. Was there anything else being used that uses your internet data like streaming movies or music from TV or just other downloads?

Nothing else was going on. No one else was home or on any other computers. Normally I can download a 5 or 6 GB file in a reasonable amount of time. So reasonable, that I didn't bother to see how long it was. All of these MSFS downloads take forever, even the 5 or 6 GB variety. I think my provider says we have 200 Megabits/ sec. How long did it take for your download and install?

I've got a 50 Mbps connection and last Thursday's 33 GB download took about an hour and a half for me, which is very close to 50 Mbps.

I'm pretty sure I've seen posts like yours here before but I've no idea what you can do about it.

Search google or the search function here for your search terms, is the only advice I can give you.

No busted cap bringing the ISP to throttle down your line ?

If not, the MS servers are at fault, they are not working so well these days as shown in several posts on this forum.

My poor 4G connection took about 2.5 hours to download SU7 at the time of release.
