Does this look like a 10m Mesh? (Zion National Park)

Recommended Posts

Guest sillyeagle

I'm debating whether there is a need for me to get the 10m Mesh for the US as it seems many of the areas I like to fly already have a 10m Mesh. This shot is over Zion Park, and is one of the most beautiful locations I have come across. Does this appear to be a 10m mesh to you guys? For now I'm assumign it is. It seems to have similar detail to the Grand Canyon, which I believe is known to have a 10m mesh by default. If most of the parks come with 10m by default, I see no reason to get the mesh pack, as most of my flying is done where I find the coolest scenery, and so far that means in and around the national parks. I'll post any other places I find that seem to have the higher default mesh so people know where to go, and I would encourage others to do the same. Certainly there are other places with this kind of detail, and it would be nice to have a collection of the most visually appealing areas. Thanks for looking.http://sio.midco.net/FTP5/mesh.jpgEDIT: Here's one more I took previously. http://sio.midco.net/FTP5/sf260fsx.jpg

Doesn't look anywhere near 10m to me. Probably closer to 76m.Allcott

If you like it, why spend money on it...? You will never be able to compare the default mesh with any addon mesh in real time, sou will hardly ever enjoy the difference... That's why I seldom buy addons like mesh and so on. As soon as it's installed I have the feeling I've spend money on something I can't really notice...BTW Posting places is nice, but it might be a good idea to tell WHERE the place is... Something like coordinates (just make a screenshot after pressing Shift-Z) or the nearest airfield. I haven't got the faintest clue where Zion Park is...

Coordinates and heading are always nice - pretty much essential to do any trouble shooting, replicate and issue or answer questions.Zion National Park in in the southern part of the State of Utah in the western United States, near the Arizona border.About 25-30 nm from KSGU on a heading of 040-080 - it runs north and south at that location.http://www.zionnational-park.com/images/al...park-zf_jpg.htmhttp://www.zionnational-park.com/images/al...park-zz_jpg.htmhttp://www.zionnational-park.com/images/al...al-park_jpg.htmI don't think FS will ever be able to do complete justice to the park - but it is pretty good in FSX with the FS Genesis mesh.http://www.zionnational-park.com/images/al...-park-t_jpg.htmhttp://www.zionnational-park.com/images/al...rows-9d_jpg.htm

When posting pictures show coordinates so we can check our system.

>Doesn't look anywhere near 10m to me. Probably closer to>76m.I don't see how that can be possible. I thought FSX uses 38m, with up to 10m in certain places? I read the Grand Canyon used a 10m mesh, and this place appears to have the same mesh resolution to me. I'm just trying to figure out if I will see any improvement by getting the mesh pack. If it improves on the detail I see here, I may get it. Zion Park is at 37

Nice pictures Reggie; we (my family) spent several days in Zion a few years ago. Spectacular scenery and great hiking! Would that 3rd shot be at the top of the Angels Landing trail hike? (I believe that's the correct name).

(I believe that's the correct name). The third pic, Observation Point, is even higher than Angels Landing; and you're actually looking down to Angels Landing. And of course, it's a much longer hike from the canyon bottom on the East trail. We force ourselves to go there every year, if not more. :). It's actually one of the most beautiful "hiking" canyons in the entire world, but you have to hike it, to know! From our camp trailer, two weeks ago. Early morning, after a brief rain. Lounge chair, coffee & Bailey's Irish cream...L.Adamsonhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171008.jpg
