Mbps needed as changing PC room

Featured Replies

My wife has finally kicked me out of the front room, so that is where the virgin hub is.

Currently its on the ethernet cable andf gets about 240-250 mbps.

Question is i am moving the PC so any idea the best mbps in real life, ignoring the recommended of 20 as i don't believe that.

Have a 150mbps dongle in another PC which says 150 mbps but gets 50mbps...

Dongle, 20m ethernet cable or any other options?

Look at getting some PowerLine adaptors and then you can still use Ethernet cable.

Slower than just Ethernet for transfer but will be fine for msfs.

I use them to avoid running Ethernet cables in the walls.

I think 50mbps is bare minimum. Before I had smart hub internet with max 25mbps and it was a struggle... Now I have full 1Gbps, which is overkill, but I am not the only one in the house....

The key thing is to have ethernet connection. I had trouble with wifi, especially with the MSFS updates and not working properly....

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

I'd also plan ahead and run some ethernet out to the dog house just in case.

As another point of reference for you -- my connection is approx 60Mbps and I have a direct connection (currently) and have zero problems with it.

A few months ago I had MSFS set up upstairs, and I used a wireless connection there and it also had zero problems.
