Worst thing about 2024 was a dev making their last game ther whipping boy for people who moved to the latest one. Litterally one minute you were comming on here to mention a bug or whatever in 2020 and a load of people would derail, belittle and generally make you think you were seeing a different game to them, then next minute thoise same people are suddenly saying how terrible 2020 is and how 2024 is the best game ever etc. Having got into train sim world, i purchased 6 for 6 pounds, then realsied you can download tsw 7 for free if you have previous one, then you realise that the same exe file is used for all the train sims from 1-7.... i have moved over to 7 because of frame gen in that and few minor improvements, but it is still train sim 6 really..... just be honest 2020 and 2024 are the same game with some improvements, a casual can stay on 2020 forever IMO...

My guess would be if they do make a new one, it will feature DLSS 5. I forsee most devs utilising it, which for me is fine as i love any new tech for the benefit of games.... obvioulsy some wont see it as a benefit but that ain't my problem. I guess with DLSS 5 making games look better (to me at least) releasing new games which objectively look worse, wont shift copies. And for clarity, DLSS 5 is experimental at present and also, a choice.... if you dont like it, dont use it, no one forces you, so wasting energy telling me im wrong is pointless, just dont turn it on..... i know that i will.

Regards the train sim question, well havning picked up TSW 6 for 6 quid ive now added about 30 quids worth of DLC (in steam sale), so yes just like any game the base is the gateway drug. Obviously as a kid i loved train sets and loved seeing trains running if i was using them (not a train spotter). So yes like anything it touches something inside, and then the money pours out. In its worst form in gaming context, yopu purchase new stuff to chase that high as over time the high goes.... so saying base game as gateway drug, isnt just being flipant...

I'm always behind the curve, I just got train sim 6 for £6 on instant gaming, I play Forza Horizon 4 still. And i use mudrunner rather than snowrunner even though i have it. I am that annoying gamer that likes to wait till i can get stuff for cheap in steam sales etc.... the gamers that have to get stuff pre order at high prices, pay for gamers like me basically. Neither is the wrong way to do it, so long as that way makes you happy. And getting bargains makes me happy because i'm tight.

yep, just glad to be on the 50 series cards despite the hate they get. To be honest i was happy as larry running my rtx 2070 for 5 years, could of stayed on that for longer but in my line of work met a PC builder who built me the rtx 5060 ti 5800x 32 ram for £850, so seemed crazy to pass that up in current climate. Should keep me goiong for next few years. I will also add that running MSFS 2020 for all these years at 30fps was great, of course 60fps is a big change, but up to that point 30fps was good enough to get me over 900 hours flying.... (ok a lot of that is alsoo in menus but you get my point)

Im still on 2020, ive said in my head that once i get to 1000 hours in steam (currently at time of typing 956 hours), i'll celebrate by purchasing 2024 in a steam sale. Just upgraded from 2070 5 3600 16 ram to 5060 ti 5800x 32 ram so actually playing 2020 at 60fps its like a new game anyway to me, currently just delved right back into it. Whatever happens moving forward, 2020 will always be special as that first moment i purchased it back when i had a 1060 6gb, i was just totally blown away, like nothing i'd ever seen before.... Just could not get over it, i used to fly those first 200 odd hours hionestly breathless at times.... It still hits, and certainly on my new PC its hitting again.... but nothing like that first time all those years ago.... going from Dovetails flightsim and FSX, to 2020 was insane.... and yes, for sure to my eyes over time they did mess with it too much, UK still having scorched grass covering most of it is a big bug bear of mine still to this day....

Devs will have access to these tols moving forward, basically they can finally make game slook ho they intended is the blurb, and having seen many examples i would have to say that isnt just marketing talk for once... The idea that this changed actual modelling or 'artistic vision' of the devs is for the birds. Whether i'd use it at this stage with the preformance drop i doubt it, but sure is interesting seeing all the games on YT. I'd like to see what it could do to FSX.

Not even why this DLSS 5 thing is dividing people, its tech and its absolutly insane, its leaped several generations in graphiocs without a dev doing a single thing... every game i've seen it on is improved in everyway graphically. As a tech head it is utterly absorbing to me, i dont understand why people hate anything AI so much, I willing to hear because i try to put myself in that mind set but just can't...

If your using a PC as a proper hobby all costs tend to be easy to wash away. I got into PC gaming because i was doing track days but had a kid and didn't have the time or see the point in having a 6k track car plus some road toys 3k each. Sold them and got into sim racing 10 years ago or so, started out with gtx 1060 i7 4970 (400 quid), no more track days just sim racing, got a TX thrustmaster wheel etc. Even ran MSFS on that, then 4 years ago got RTX 2070 ryzen 5 3600 (700 quid). Now after xmas i'm getting rtx 5070 ti with some powerful ryzen in it. Still use the first PC, i'm on it now, for modding and work stuff, will give this to my 15 year old for his room and i'll use the RTX 2070 one for me and game solely on the new one... Always being stingy, never caring about anyone else's, that thrustmaster TX wheel, i still have it after 10 years still use every day, not upgrading till it breaks and it won't break! Point being, just do you, it doesn't HAVE to have a 5090 in it to have fun, not at all. I also stopped drinking 12 years ago so i'd imagine what i saved alone on drinking has covered most of it.... also i'm a mortgage payer with kids, so comparing yourself to kids living at home buying 5k builds or retired boomers is silly.... I could go back to the 1060 1st build i have and game on it perfectly fine if i wanted, id still have fun...

I had this few weeks ago, for me it was the dlss hack from cyberpunk, restored to original and can use dx11 again no issues.... worth noting i was rounded on by the usuals here for saying i wanted to at least have a choice to run either dx12 or 11....

It does, and not everyone buying these games likes to sit for 6 hours on auto pilot pretending to be an airline pilot. Most just want good visuals and the fly around having fun.... 2020 does that. Its not hard to own 2024 you just need 60 quid and a steam account..... why do you act like only a select few can own it and your one of them?

Explain to us why you do then, as you are constantly trying to to convince everyone, or yourself, that 2024 is massively different to the your average casual flight simmer...it isn't. I got 2024 few weeks ago and went to what i did with 2020, flying over my house etc well known spots I've visited, and it got boring real quick because most look the same as 2020. I use flight sim about 2 hours over a week now, so really i was silly getting 2024. My mistake and I'll deal with it....

I've been around gaming a long time, first computer was ZX spectrum. I've seen the 'xbox/ps' fanboi rubbish, seen the 'amiga/atari' rubbish, seen loads of 'my racing sim is better than yours' etc etc etc.... but never, until now had i seen this utter drivel aimed at 2 games one of which is a bit newer but essentially the 2024 is the same in so many ways... both are by the same dev FFS.... its utter madness and so so so dull. Both sides seem to be totally blind to the fact they are slagging off the SAME devs each way..... anyway i largely ignore it now as i play neither that much anymore.

How defensive you are over dx12(beta) in MSFS...... like its your mum and not some non human thing in a computer game implemented as a beta, still, and badly IMO... forced to use it by total incompetence from ASOBO. I purchased a phenomenal game all those years ago, got 900 hours out of it, mostly of pure wonderment and joy.... and progressively its got worse, to the point now where I'm going to uninstall it.... I've had a blast... And maybe, i might grad 2024 in a sale.... maybe...
