  1. I had that few weeks ago, mentioned it on here, then suddenly it stopped, so i'm guessing now its a server issue their end that comes and goes. For example after the DUNE update, i had a flight with no tiles at all bar the basic ones, it looks awful, i panicked, restarted it and all was back to normal.. Which as it doesn't affect all at the same time or points or areas, very few posts about it..
  2. So all was fine and then i cleared dxcache following steps and now on a few flights i've had those texture grids popping in, and same happens with PG. I have tried rolling cache on and off etc, ultra everything. Some areas its not so bad, and i have been flying new routes so maybe just never noticed it. Does anyone else have this experience? I've seen it before and cases on youtube back 9 months ago, just weird it happened after DXcache clear out. You can see as you fly out of airport big chunks of texture just pop n as you move towards them, very odd.
  3. Yeah i know, i got obsessed with it, then found undervolting then found running optimal performance setting. The fact that i can use MSFS at 1080p on mostly ultra and the GPU is sometimes using just 1200mhz, for me shows that running at 'prefer maximum performance' is IMO and for my needs, pointless waste creating a hot card when its not necessary. Obviously if i wanted to push it I'd be going higher resolution monitor etc, but at 1080p it just doesn't need to be forced to run at maximum. I do bang the drum for nvidias 'optimal performance' as it works perfectly.
  4. Should be near the top in global and also in the MSFS exe in there too. Not sur if its because i also use the scaling thing NIS. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4920/~/how-to-enable-image-sharpening-in-the-nvidia-control-panel
  5. I tried DLSS, didn't like the blurriness so switched back. Then i gave it another go to check performance. Now for me its easy to tell as i don't run 'prefer max performance' in nvidia CT. I run optimal performance, so in areas light on trees I can see using MSI that my GPU is clocking to 1200 mhz and goes up to 1740mhz (undervolted aswell) in areas of trees and if heavy clouds. All locked at 30fps ULTRA everywhere bar the pointless ones. So with DLSS 'on' its 1200 mhz pretty much everywhere regardless of trees and clouds. GPU using 35-45 percent of its grunt. Very low temps GPU and CPU which is also undervolted. GPU at about 50 degs and CPU at 50 degs. All i did regards the blur is to put sharpening at between 10 to 20 percent in nvida control panel. Sorted. Looks about the same but using far less from my GPU. OK all this is at 1080p but i don't believe in over using the GPU if it doesn't need it. So for me at least DLSS stays, as its giving good results visually but barely asking anything from my GPU which is already undervolted. Now even in heavy clouds and cities it might push it to 1500 mhz but most other places its at 1200mhz and thanking me with low temps.... happy. So my tip if using DLSS, nvidia sharpening at 10-20 percent.
  6. Hi i noticed some people have been removing WU Australia but just PG cities, how would i go about doing that? Apparently they affect you even if just flying in say UK. Just curious how i'd do that and dont want to bust anything. The reason is i have not really flown much in Oz as always in the UK so not really needed, and want to see if its WU7 that has made my CPU usage go up.
  7. I just sort of think, if that is my only real thing to worry about, I'm doing ok.... I joke of course, what with a business to run, two little kids, wife to keep happy (ish) keeping my nearly 9 year sobriety going without slipping, and that is before i go and see what the news has to say about the wider world............ Yeah...so..
  8. Tried live weather and they look pretty good, in fact i got them working better over all even presets. Frozen lakes are an issue though now.
  9. OK after some digging and messing about with the clouds during a flight via the weather controller. I can confirm that if you move the clouds slider up on some lower clouds, they come up out of the ground.... They are there and assume being rendered, but are under ground......odd.
  10. I don't want to be a beta tester though. I heard loads of promising stuff in threads about how the beta was a game changer, then it drops and it isn't at all. To be clear i was and am still extremely happy with MSFS its mind blowing, just i was happy the first time i loaded it up and each update seems to just mess stuff up, somewhere. The AMS , AMSL is on the weather UI in flight from the weather drop down, you can toggle either and the change is striking. I wondered what it was abbreviating? Googled it AGL/ AMSL
  11. Just had an hour or so just now and the clouds seemed good again, I changed the 'AMS' 'ASML' or whatever that setting says on the weather UI. What is the difference for those, the difference visually is striking. I must of changed it at some point. To be clear i am not a wannabe pilot, so much of it is over my head, I'm a more "look there is my house!" or "wow that is the beach where i saw that hot girl" kinda guy.
  12. That all my weather presets looked great and clouds looked great until the patch. It concerns me that they allow beta testers who might make up the "all is great" brigade, and then push out updates based on their opinions. Clouds are not as good as i remember them at the moment. First time I've been frustrated with the direction
  13. OK i run a 2070 so i'll expect the "get a better GPU" chants. But seriously, prior to this update everything was great at mostly ultra. Noticed last night in cloudy weather the cloud settings are very heavy, yes they look better but slightly annoyed as i was happy with them before. I can run them but the way my system is set up (using optimal power in NCP) and my undervolt, I can see just by changing from clear to clouds the dramatic usage change which wasn't there prior to this. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere? Anyone else noticed?
  14. I run at 30 frame cap, VSYNC on in NCP, frames capped in NCP also at 60. My ryzen 5 3600 runs without boost so capped at 3.6 via processor 99% 'hack'. RTX 2070 under volt at 800v max and capped at 1740mhz core clock. 1080p and this means i can run pretty much all ULTRA (apart from the ones where its proven there is NO difference at all from medium to ultra) My biggest change is that i no longer ascribe to the Nvidia "max performance" mantra. I run it at Optimum so for example i can be flying over rural areas and my core clock is using 1300mhz and voltage is 7.4v Go into a city and core clock ups to 1740mhz... This means i get smooth 30frames at all times bar the odd drop but rarely. But importantly to me, temps on GPU are 51-58c and CPU 50-55c. Very under stressed but still looks amazing.
  15. My wife has finally kicked me out of the front room, so that is where the virgin hub is. Currently its on the ethernet cable andf gets about 240-250 mbps. Question is i am moving the PC so any idea the best mbps in real life, ignoring the recommended of 20 as i don't believe that. Have a 150mbps dongle in another PC which says 150 mbps but gets 50mbps... Dongle, 20m ethernet cable or any other options?
