DC-3 NDB?

Featured Replies

I am using the freeware mod DC-3 from Flightsim.to in FSMS and am learning all about the Beech King Air panel that is used in it. Since I have almost never used the glass panel planes, it is new to me. I have the auto pilot down and how to tune the NAV 1, and 2 radios, but I can't find any way to tune an ADF radio to use with an NDB station. Does this panel have an ADB radio and if so, how do I tune it.

Thanks

Played around with the King Air panel a bit.  Try this:

1. On the PFD click on Split in the upper right corner. You should now have a map on the right side of the PFD.

2. On the bottom of the map, click on Proc.

3. Click on the Nearest button in the middle of the right side split screen.

4. Click on Nearest NDB. Select your NDB (and frequency). So apparently you just select from a list of 'nearest' NDBs rather then enter NDB frequency digits.

I have to wonder, why would anyone would put a King Air 350 panel in a DC-3? Even a panel with a G1000NXi would seem a better fit, at least to me.  To each their own, I guess.   😉

BTW, to set Bearing Pointer 1 or 2 to ADF, click on the PDF screen to get the split screen below. Then click on the Bearing Pointers buttons to cycle through the different options for the bearing pointers.

Thanks for your reply. I follow everything you said except clicking on the CDI Source, shown in the box above, gives me choices of VOR1, VOR2, GPS, but not NDB. Not sure which one to select there. And does that mean if I select say VOR1 that the only needle I will see is for the VOR1?

A left field Q. for you Strato 1: Are you using a Yoke & throttle box in your control set up?

If so, what do you press to toggle from Exterior to Interior view, & back?

I know someone who is getting CTD's doing that when they fly this aircraft in MSFS.

The CDI cannot be set to NDB, only the Bearing Pointers ( the blue single and double arrows ) can be set to NDB.

I use CH Products Yoke, Pedals, and Throttle Quadrant for my controllers. On the backside of both the vertical hand grips on the yoke, there is a red button. I use the left one for Push To Talk for Comms, and the right one to change back and forth between interior and exterior views. No CTDs.

OK, I understand.

Here is a picture with the CDI set to GPS, bearing pointer 1 pointing to a VOR (BRK), and bearing pointer 2 (double arrow) pointing to an ADF (freq 407). This is from a G1000NXi display but it will essentially be the same with the King Air. Note each of the bearing pointers can use either Nav1, Nav2, ADF or GPS. If a bearing pointer is set to GPS it will point to the active (next) GPS waypoint.

If it is not a complete PITA, could you advise what Controls Option assignment you have for this right hand vertical yoke grip red button?

Is it Controls Options/ Yoke/Camera/Camera Mode Switches/Cockpit_External View Mode?

If not could you reply with your Assignment chain for that button?

Thank you
