Hi folks. I have just finally gotten my VR environment to be fairly acceptable to use. Still a lot of flickering/shimmering, but at least its to a level I think I can tolerate.

My question concerns the use of controllers while in VR. The yoke is easy to find without having to look at it but other things on the yoke like the buttons, and the bravo switches, etc. are hard to find blind.

So I would like opinions as to how you actually operate the plane in VR? What things do you do within the cockpit using controllers, and what things do you do from external controllers?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Rob

I have VR hand controllers but don't use them in VR. I mostly use the mouse for cockpit interaction. I have external TPR rudder pedals, a TM T.1600 stick, and Honeycomb Bravo TQ which I operate outside VR. I ignore most of the buttons and switches on the Bravo and just manipulate the cockpit controls in VR, other than landing gear and flaps (and throttle/prop/mixture of course).

I like the feel of operating physical switches like lights with the Bravo but found it cumbersome to have to feel for them and also find it more immersive to operate them directly in the virtual cockpit with the mouse.

I don't use my VR controllers for flight.

I use the mouse for most switches and knobs. I use a yoke, throttle quadrant and rudder petals for controls. Once you get used to it, muscle memory kicks in and controls are easy to find.
