Yes they are, I got mine on the hour of release with a new build PC, the only way to get one at the time. I thought at the time £785 was crazy. Pricers since then or just silly. David Murden. January 18, 20224 yr If someone was thinking of upgrading from a 1080p monitor to 4k for flight simming, I'd suggest considering, instead, getting an ultrawide monitor, especially if they were concerned about performance. I had a 3440x1440 ultrawide, but got lured by the 4k siren song and replaced my 21:9 with a 4k 16:9 panel. It looked great, sure, but I found myself missing the extra width I had on my ultrawide. I didn't want to give up all the resolution improvement I was seeing, though, so instead I switched to a 3840x1600 curved 24:10 panel, which is basically a 4k panel with the bottom quarter cut off. I absolutely love it, and I don't really miss the extra 560 lines of vertical resolution at all in flight sims. The performance is better, too. (For comparison, a 1080p monitor has just over 2M pixels. A full 4k monitor has almost 8.3M. The 3840x1600 has a bit over 6M -- still a lot more than the 1080, but notably less for a video card to push than the full 4K.) This is the particular monitor I have. It's almost shamefully expensive, but with its size in a 1ms IPS panel with 144Hz refresh, G-SYNC, and HDR is really hard to beat for gaming. There are cheaper options, though. Something else to consider, anyway. Edited January 18, 20224 yr by DeepestRed The people's flag is deepest red.

A 4K display will reduce fps and increase stutters a lot more than 1444p. January 18, 20224 yr I switched from a 4k (27 inch €800 monitor IPS Gsync) to a Dell 34 Ultra wide curved monitor (VA) for half the price. Actually a downgrade in terms of resolution, but the wider panel is much more comfortable for me. And especially VA, finally flying at night over Vatsim is fun again! IPS glow was just unbearable for me. I don't think the lower resolution is bad, you get used to it very quickly. I only saw a real difference in 4K videos anyway. During the flight I don't notice a big difference. I use a high end PC with a 2080ti. i7-10700k - MSI RTX 2080ti - LG OLEDC2

It's because I have a 32" 2k 1920 by 1080 2K monitor. A 34" widescreen 2560 by 1080 would be better. But I would not like to be running at 4K on a 24" display. No way. Such a tiny display would be awful at any resolution. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
