January 21, 20224 yr Thought I would fly my "routine" NZCH to NZQN via Mt Cook in the Vertex DA-62, a flight I have done a LOT without incident. However, the DA-62 woke up "wonky", not in its normal cold-and-dark state, and when I tried to correct things the model would not respond. The normal (excellent) Vertex dashboard was not functioning either. So, I uninstalled and attempted to re-install. No go - I get a "setup error" that kills the installation - the DA-62 appears dead for me... 😞 😞 😞 All Windows scans (i.e., scannow and Dism) indicate a normal (such as it is) and correct Windows environment. Anybody else seen problems with the DA-62? Hoping it is a "transient" error... January 21, 20224 yr Moderator I've just checked mine in v5.3HF1 and it's fine. For the setup it may be looking for P3Dv4 in the Registry. Do you have... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 "Licence"="Academic" "SetupPath"="D:\\P3Dv5" ;change this to your path. Try entering those and the installer should work. I have two shortcuts on my desktop to add the above entry and another to remove it. I reinstate it temporarily to use the Config App for the Vertx. I then remove it otherwise other software gets confused thinking I have P3Dv4 installed when I don't. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 21, 20224 yr "setup error" . What is the error message? It works fine here with the latest V5.3hf2 and the previous versions. If you get past that setup error, make sure the xmltools64 is installed. Cheers Pierre I9 14900K 5.5 64gb ram 6800 RTX5090 Asus Strix Gaming E

I "used" to have V4 faked in the registry but things may have changed. I failed to remember that I completely mind-wiped my flight sim system of all vestiges of V4, including the user account I assigned to it. Clearly, those actions removed any and all Prepar3D V4 entries from the Registry. Thanks again! January 22, 20224 yr Author Well, bugger all! Not out of the woods yet, as the model still does not load cold-and-dark correctly, it will not start, and there are no sounds. Digging for solutions. If I remember correctly, Ray, you had some initial teething problems with the Vertex model as well. January 23, 20224 yr Moderator @Howellerman, open the Config App and go to the Advanced tab. There's an option to reinstall the Sound module. There are also options to reset ini files and to reinstall various modules. Refer to the manual for specific info. Ray (Cheshire, England). Well, on one hand I stand before you, chagrined with hat in hand, because I failed the first test: R.T.F.M! On the other hand, after completely mindwiping my system of all-thing-vertx (including a CCleaner pass) I am still dead in the water. I am going to give it a rest for now - who knows, after the next hotfix it may work again! In the interim, the Carenado DA62 will suffice. I know, I know, a lot of people poo-poo Carenado for this and that, but it actually has a superior sound-set (IMO), and it loads my flight plans automagically. Easier on the FPS, too! Thanks for the help, Ray.
