9700K to 12700... in my mind, you probably aren't going to see much of a difference. I'd probably just hold on for a 4000 series GPU later this year.

i went from the 9700k to the 12700k and noticed a nice difference.  Ability to run p3d with no frame locks now.  Before that didn't work the best.  The 12700k also plays nicer with the 3090 than my 9700k did.  But realize OP is looking at 1080ti

The 9700k was  great when Hyperthreading was an issue in P3D , bit know Iam getting the feeling that HT is better utilized in V5.3 and people are getting better results with it turned on , also I here 12 gen works really well with W11 , please tell me if Iam wrong as Iam close to pulling the trigger lol

I just upgraded to a 12900K, Asus Z690-F MD, 32G Gskill DDR5, with a 3080.  I mainly fly PMDG NGXu, 777 and 747, ORBX, ActiveSky, Rex Skyforce.  Haven't dipped below 60 FPS yet, but I'm always conservative with my settings and runn a 4K Monitor so no real need for Super Sampling.

Well guys I've gone for a 9900k , probably not much benefit visually , just want the HT and squeeze the every last drop out of my maximus hero xi z390 setup, my artic freezer II should handle this toasty critter lol. Maybe towards the end of year will go full Z690 see how it goes , thanks for your posts guys , I will keeping a close eye on the 12700/12900k posts 🤔

I literally just bought this setup (using my GTX 1080 ti cause you can't find any RTX cards) but I haven't set it up yet.  I'm coming from a 4790K at 4.4GHz so I'm hoping for at least a 2x boost in fps.  On my current rig I dip into the high teens in big cities and nice payware.
