Grand Canyon Showcase in MSFS2020

In 2011 I went to Phoenix for a two week seminar at Thunderbird School of Global Management. During one of the weekends we were fortunate to visit Grand Canyon. A truly breathtaking experience for someone with severe vertigo hailing from a country where the tallest point is some 150m.

So, I kept your flight on the to-fly list and took off in the JF Turbo Arrow 3 yesterday. It was great and the weather also turned out to be really spectacular.

The Arrow was bounced around at each canyon crossing, and I had to dodge in and out between the low clouds and light showers. I have no idea if that kind of weather is realistic for Grand Canyon but it was quite something. Flying close to the clouds at higer altitude meant icing and at lower altitudes it turned to light showers.

Thanks for sharing the route @Doering

Great to hear your comments on flying the Grand Canyon corridors! I put a lot of work into the flight plan and flew the route as close as possible to real life! The accuracy of this sim for VFR operations is always so impressive!

Hi Laurie.

May I ask what the pop up chart display is? It looks really neat.

Thanks for watching! The pop up chart is ForeFlight. It is a subscription service that I use for my real world flights. As you can see, ForeFlight integrates seamlessly with Flight Simulator. I run ForeFlight on an iPad mini and start screen recording at the beginning of a flight. I then edit in any sections of the screen recording that I want into the video.

Ah, okay. I have seen ForeFlight in use when I watch Plane Old Ben's real life videos here in the UK. It works really well with the sim.

Regards..Kenny.
