Need help with float planes

Featured Replies

I want to take off and land in some of the large lakes around the country.  When I set up a flight in the world menu and hit FLY, it starts me out at 9600 feet altitude.

Is there a way to start off on the water?

Also, is there a way to find seaplane bases on the world menu, so I can take off there?

Thanks,

Roy

Haven’t found a way, you can only start either in the air or pick one of the seaplanes bases, you can use the filter function in the world section

I checked and I have the seaplanes bases on in the filters menu.  Then I went looking for them.  They appear just as dots.  You have to zoom all the way in to find them.  They have a special marking but you can't see it unless you zoom all the way in. And of course there are hundreds of dots near the coast that are not seaplane bases. So it's kind of hit or miss.

If you fly from a particular lake regularly, just save the flight while floating in the lake, and when you reload the flight you will be back on the lake ready to take-off.

I am not aware of any way to start on the water at a random location you have never been to before.

You could also start at the nearest airport or seaplane base, and then slew to the exact location/lake you wanted to start at.

Shouldn’t see any other but seaplane bases if the filter is set to seaplane bases only. But yes, you really need to zoom in quite a lot

I got the filter set for everything turned on.  I guess if I turned everything off but the seaplane bases I could find them.  Will try that.

Thanks for the help.
