Getting the .bgl part back

Featured Replies

Hi,
I made a mistake this evening opening a .bgl file with notepad and for some reason all my scenery files are now missing the .bgl at the end of the name causing an issue.

Is there a way to get it back so the file in file explorer show xxx.bgl again ?

I tried seaching, but since I run W11 I am not able to use the thread from 2004.

Hope someone are able to help.

Can't you just do a file rename in Explorer and change the extension to bgl? Or did you actually make any changes to the actual file, in which case you will need to reinstall the applicable software.

Sounds like you may have associated .bgl files with the Notepad app. What icons do you see for the .bgl files? Do they look like notepad files?

Here's an article on restoring file associations on Windows 11 that may help.

I am glad that you got it sorted, Peter. I remember having this problem several years ago, but I could not remember how I resolved it!
