Two commands & one joystick button assignment.

Featured Replies

Please if you can help me. Is it possible have two commands to one joystick button assignment?

No.

Gigabyte x670 Aorus Elite AX MB; AMD 7800X3D CPU; Deepcool LT520 AIO Cooler; 64 Gb G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO DDR5 6000; Win11 Pro; P3D V5.4; 1 Samsung 990 2Tb NVMe SSD: 1 Crucial 4Tb MX500 SATA SSD; 1 Samsung 860 1Tb SSD; Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 1080ti 11Gb VRAM; Toshiba 43" LED TV @ 4k; Honeycomb Bravo.

I think it might be possible. I could imagine creating a custom command using FlyWithLua Script which incorporates two or more other commands. Then one could assign this custom command to a joystick button

Yes, it's possible, at least in the ESP-based sims (P3D, FSX, FS9).  Using FSUIPC, you can assign a joystick button or keystroke to trigger a Lua script that will fire off as many commands as you like.  I'm unsure as to whether that capability is there in FSUIPC7 (for MSFS).

I guess some clarification is needed -- does the OP mean to have one button execute multiple commands at once or does it mean to have one button perform two different functions at different times? My answer was in regards to the latter.

In MSFS at least you can have a single button fire off two commands at the same time e.g. I have the Autopilot and Yaw Damper buttons assigned to the same button on my yoke so when I switch on the AP then YD automatically comes on too. But as pgde noted above you can't have it perform different things at different times i.e. I couldn't use the button on my yoke just to switch on AP but leave YD off.

The idea is turn on land and taxi lights with a single  button in the Macbare Cockpit, flying the MSFS2020 Cessna 172...

I am pretty sure you can assign the same button multiple times in MSFS. You will get a warning that the button is already assigned but it won't stop you for doing that anyway.

Then how does the software know which command you wish it to invoke?

Both will be executed at the same time of course. I assumed that's what you wanted: a single switch to toggle both taxi and landing lights.
If you don't want that I am not sure I fully understand your question.

Exactly what I need. So far I have not managed on the joystick that I use here. The dual assignment is ignored... still trying to. Thank you all for the help.
