February 22, 20224 yr Hey! This has been something that I've been wondering about for a bit, but has anyone been able to get the CLS 747-200/300 to work on P3Dv4/P3Dv5? For me when I download it, the textures show fine and look fine, but the vc on the other hand doesn't appear, and some of the gauges are missing/not functional. I was wondering if someone has put a tutorial on how to fix those if they have done it. Thanks!
February 22, 20224 yr I've got them running in P3Dv5.3. I think I gave up on the original CLS installers, and purchased a copy of the updated version available at Just Flight. I remember having to do some messing around to get them going, but looking in the files right now I can't see anything that stands out. I "think" - could be mistaken, that I ended up replacing some of the cockpit gauges with those from the HD DC-10 (also former CLS) that they sell - but I stress that could be "false news"... I really only installed them to get some short-hump models into the game. They look pretty good - EA makes them dull and lifeless, but with EA off they still appear just fine.
February 22, 20224 yr Maybe you did the same modifications (meaning the DLLs replaced with the 64-bit versions, and that are shared between the DC-10 and the 742)? The original CLS 747 (the non-HD one) AFAIK had some issues with P3D, so it's probably best to use the JustFlight ones, as it has "HD" textures and a semi-3d engineer panel. They got rid of the functioning INS on the HD version though, it's been changed to just be a latitude and longitude reader, so if you really want the INS, unfortunately it won't be in the HD version. The sound gauges are the only things that need to be changed (unless JF updated their installers to use the 64 bit DLLs), as they are 32 bit, so when you flip a switch, no sound would play. I think you can find them here and paste it into your gauges folder. Edited February 22, 20224 yr by arwasairl
February 22, 20224 yr Author So just to clarify I am using JustFlight's 747-200/300 Classic of the CLS, and that is the issue.
February 22, 20224 yr Funnily enough I had a go at installing this today into p3dv5.3, the installer will only recognise earlier versions, but you can browse for an install folder. Pointed it at the main parent folder, and it appeared in the aircraft selection menu in p3d, but the undercarriage doesn't show, there is no virtual cockpit, but the 2d panel can be called up by pressing the 'W' key. The airspeed indicator doesn't want to work in that. So I pasted a whole panel folder from a freeware 747-400 into the top of the list CLS 747s folder, and that made that particular aircraft's 2d panel available, but no vc. Got it flying, you have to put in 4.9 up trim, which you can do on the 2d pedestal you can call up. Nice looking aircraft, some of em, the Atlas Air freighter looks like its covered with a sectioned carpet! Also, had a try at aliasing the cfg's from each panel folder to the 747-400's panel, but that didn't work either. Pity really.😔

Pity really.😔 yeah not gonna lie, I would be fine with the exteriors but the problem is I fly with a VA, because like I want there to be like "a reason" that I fly instead of just aimlessly just flying, and sadly I am also one of those people where if I try landing in an exterior view I land at like -900fpm. Yeah, yikes. That's why I'm like somewhat desperate to find a to upload a VC.
February 23, 20224 yr I really don't know what I did - but I've got the VC working just fine. I didn't worry about the 64-bit sound fix, I don't really care if switches go "click" or not, as long as they do what they're supposed to do. I just finished a 2.5 hour flight, no problem, ILS approach, autobrake etc., all good. As I said above, I did end up changing some of the gauges in the cockpit with models from the DC-10 HD package. In the end, no idea why or how I got the VC working. I do have separate exterior/interior models - if the package doesn't come with those normally, I must have converted them with MCX.
