March 10, 20224 yr Gents, I have recently bought a second hand FSX, and the PMDG 737 NGX in order to maintain some competencies. I am using a MSI GF63 Thin 10SCR laptop: i7-10750H @2.6GHz, Nvidia Gforce GTX 1650Ti card. All under Windows 11. So, I believe my laptop is way up to the minimum required. Launching FSX with the basic included 737 or other aircrafts, not a problem, with all the parameters set to maximum. The trouble starts only with PMDG 737: When I set this PMDG 737 plane and start a flight, either it doesn't complete and I get a black screen stuck at, let's say 86%, or in the best case scenario, I get the aircraft on the runway, but I can not select anything on the different panels despite showing a white hand on selectable switches, then it crashes and go back to windows... Can you help me please?
March 10, 20224 yr Moderator FSX licences are not transferable so you have not bought a legitimate copy of FSX. However, as it cannot be bought at all I’ll let this go. You must start FSX with a default aircraft and when the sim has fully loaded you can then load a different aircraft such as the PMDG737. Ray (Cheshire, England). March 10, 20224 yr Author Hi Ray, Well, the FSX I have bought with its box and its open seal contain 2 look like legit serial numbers (one for FSX, the other one for FSX acceleration, and if serial numbers are not transferable, why can I install it without troubles? Would it be due to different legal text in different countries? (just asking). I have tried already your solution, same problem.
March 10, 20224 yr Author @Ray Proudfoot, I have just found a reference. There is a law in UE saying that you can buy any software with its licence (serial number) under some conditions. This newspaper article is French but you can easily translate it to English I guess: https://www.leparisien.fr/economie/business/et-si-vous-achetiez-des-logiciels-d-occasion-23-01-2017-6605568.php
March 10, 20224 yr Moderator @frankflyfsx, you don’t buy the product, you buy a licence to use the product. Licences are not transferable. If you bought from a private individual that is breaking the T&C of the licence. It’s likely Microsoft have taken a relaxed approach to FSX as it’s such an old product. I’ll say no more on the matter. If my solution hasn’t worked I don’t know what else to suggest. Quite frankly you’d be better off buying P3D v5 and buying the PMDG737 NGXu. Ray (Cheshire, England). March 10, 20224 yr Commercial Member It might be because the PMDG needs to have read-write access to its files, and that it installs into the FSX program files folder which is read only. So one can run FSX as Admin to check if that helps because we get read-write access to the FSX folder as Admin. If that does not help it may be a poorly installed PMDG or that there is an update to the PMDG missing, there were a few changes in those models that solved problems of failing to run correctly. Getting hold of updates might need proof of purchase. What I do to provide read-write access in the safe and proper way is set the modify permission for the Users group on the FSX folder which is the easiest way to provide read-write access to the PMDG and maintains security features of Windows: In explorer chose the FSX program folder, and right-click for the popup menu, choose properties, choose the security tab, press Edit, select the "Users" group, in the lower panel check the "Modify Allow" box, Apply, OK. Or FSX can be installed into a user made folder and that will have read-write access for only that one user by definition. Edited March 10, 20224 yr by SteveW Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

March 10, 20224 yr Administrators This sound more like a PMDG problem than FSX. The reselling of PMDG products is not legal as far as I can see. That's probably why it doesn't work!
