this is why Microsoft invented Zendesk:

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015910560-All-versions-Can-I-choose-or-change-the-installation-path-Install-on-the-D-drive-instead-of-the-C-drive-for-instance-

MOVING THE PACKAGES INSTALLATION FOLDER TO A NEW DRIVE

If you move the packages installation folder to a new drive, you will need to update the UserCfg.opt file to tell the launcher where to find the new packages installation folder.

Failure to do so will result in having to redownload the packages every time you launch the simulation. For more details, see: All versions - Why am I redownloading all the packages after each update?

  • Copy your new Package installation path (for example D:\Microsoft Flight Simulator)
  • Navigate to the UserCfg file. By default, you'll find the UserCfg.opt at the following location:

Microsoft store version

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Steam version

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Open the UserCFG.opt file with Notepad
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page
  • Edit the line "InstalledPackagesPath" by replacing the old path with the new path

Old path

InstalledPackagesPath "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages"

New path

InstalledPackagesPath "D:\Microsoft Flight Simulator"

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

With a Steam install, you can just have Steam move it for you.

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

What I do is -

Copy everything from the Onestore folder that's in the Official folder to a portable HDD or whatever.

Uninstall the sim.

Stick the new drive in.

Reinstall. When the sim opens at the splash screen select the new folder in the new drive as the download location. Start the download so it creates the Onestore folder again.

Leave the sim.

Delete the dribbles in the new Onestore folder and paste everything from the previous version.

Restart. And the sim will go straight back to work.
