When I start a flight on the runway this 'screen' is switched on as part of the ready to go setup. Cannot figure how to switch it on when I start 'cold and dark' from a gate. Thought it might be my depressing the BRT switch, but that does not work . What do I need to do - and does this screen - check the cabin - as part of the TO configuration?

I think you need to set that up prior to use as i think it runs externally to the system, like having the MCDU pop out onto say a tablet.. There's certain settings you need to make to use it. Info on the FBW site as to how to do it.

No the battery and external (or APU power ) are on - so my question is what is the trigger to turn the display on. I was not sure if it was a working part of the FBW A320, but when I select the runway as a departure, it is switched on, so obviously working - just cannot figure out how to turn it on.

Press and hold the BRT button. It’s the DCDU, used for CPDLC ops - more here:
