I just manage to break my monitor with the tip of a screwdriver.  I was putting a new RAM mount together to hold my mini iPad mini to display ForeFlight.  I dropped the mount and my arm shot out in a reflex action to catch it - I was holding a screwdriver that pierced the screen!

My monitor was a 1440p 2K screen.  When I purchased it I took the decision not to go with 4K to help maintain FPS.  Now I need another monitor I was wondering if I should now go 4K for the quality, or even drop to 1080p to help with good FPS?  I fly with most settings at ULTRA and can maintain a smooth 30fps at 2K - outside of large cities I can maintain 40FPS, but FPS limited to 30 gives me smooth performance everywhere at ULTRA.  Obviously if I drop to 1080p I can maintain a higher base FPS but is the quality drop going to be too much?  If I go up to 4K for the quality, I don't suppose I'm going to maintain a minimum of 30fps.  What about HDR - is this a good upgrade for MSFS?

My feeling is to probably stick to 1440p 2K.  My current monitor is an IPS display, so the contrast ratio is pretty poor.  I would love some suggestions for the perfect MSFS monitor now I HAVE to buy a new one!  Oh, I have to stay with a 27-32inch non widescreen monitor due to space constraints.

That's real bad luck ... I have currently a 34'  3440x1440 curved screen which is fine for MSFS. Due to its curved style it may fit for you too. Otherewise I would go for 32' 4K screen and if possible vsynced. Your 2080Ti should manage this.

Hardware Unboxed on Youtube usually have sensible monitor reviews. I would check their playlist to see what Tim (He does the monitor reviews has reviewed)

This is the latest 1440p roundup

Theres another video with them ranking all the monitors they reviewed at the end of last year as well.

Thanks for the video link.  I do like his style and the comprehensiveness of the reviews.  After looking at the video I went with the 27 inch Samsung Odyssey G7.  It is a mid range price, double the contrast ratio of my current monitor plus it dips its toes into HDR with an HDR600 accreditation.

The recommended 1440p monitors were above what I wanted to spend but the G7 was within budget.

I forgot to say - Tim did recommend the Samsung Odyssey G7 in the video as an alternative to the more expensive models.
