May 23, 200719 yr Can I install to D:Flight Simulator X or do I have to set up D:Program FilesFlight Simulator X?Probably a silly question but I was wondering if I needed the Program Files first so add on that installed to FS would find it.Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
May 23, 200719 yr Indeed you can install it to your D: drive as indicated - that is precisely what I do myself.Just keep it in mind where it is so that if you install an addon that doesn't automatically detect it, you can point the addon in the right direction.-Greg
May 23, 200719 yr Thanks for theresponse. So I don't need a Program Files folder, just direct to FSX?Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
May 23, 200719 yr Correct. You could even install it to...D:GusterrocksGoodband...and the simulator wouldn't care. :) Just so long as you remember where it is in the event of an addon that can't detect it, you'll be fine.

May 23, 200719 yr Author Keeping FSX off the System i.e. C: drive also has a performance advantage particularly if the partition you put it on is on a separate spindle. FSX is constantly fetching textures and putting it on a separate partition and spindle stops reduces or stops interference from other i/o that is going on behind the scenes.
