How to use a flightplan vom LittleNavMap with ATC?

Featured Replies

Hello!

I want to make my flightplanning with LNM and use the MSFS ATC during flight.

How can i use a LNM flightplan in the best and efficient way with MSFS so that ATC knows my flight, especially regarding SID and STARs? Aircraft for example the WT C25. As i dont know in this planning phase which runway i will use for takeoff and which runway to land at, i can not add SID and STAR at this time.

My process currently:

- Create the LNM plan from A to B (e.g. LSZH to EHAM, without SID and STAR)

- save the plan in the LNM export format

- export the plan to MSFS.

Then go into MSFS:

- load the flight (exported from LNM)

- change the starting position to any Gate or Parking. Theoretically ready to fly. But not yet with a SID.

When i ask ATC now for clearance, i know the takeoff runway.

- Do i have to abort the flight, add a SID to the LNV flightplan, export and load it again and start a new flight in MSFS? Or is there a more efficient and elegant way?

- Should i simply add a SID in the FMC without changing the flightplan, then continue following the flightplan when i am on the next waypoint?

Then, during approach:

When i approach the target airport, most times i have to leave the planned track and follow some vectors from ATC, so far so good.. Then i get an landing aproach assigned, i can choose the approach in the FMC and follow it. Could or should i do something different here?

Any hints welcome.

I gave up on the default MSFS and decided to be the Captain & ATC Controller. I use ATC Chatter and disable the default ATC. That's the best tip I can give to you until ASOBO takes ATC seriously.

Yes, there is.

1. ATC sucks a bit indeed but okay, it can be fun to use nonetheless so...

2. ...why exactly are you using LNM? Why not skip it and use the MSFS planner for everything? It can create plans including SIDs and STARs if you want to. No other planner needed. But anyway...

3. ...if you really want to use LNM, start MSFS as well as LNM, set up a basic flight in LNM and once MSFS has loaded up go to the MSFS planner and manually enter your desired departure and destination in the MSFS planner: it will show the runways in use (by MSFS) right away! No need to actually start a flight and contact ATC! Add those runways to the LNM plan. Complete your plan in LNM, export it, switch to MSFS again and load it into the planner (which is still active).

4. If you add the STAR (if needed) and approach in the MSFS planner, ATC will always use it. No need to change anything during flight anymore.

Again, I am not sure why you'd want to use LNM since the MSFS planner offers everything you need and setting it all up with it makes the flight with ATC a relaxing one. I myself mainly use LNM to find airports to fly from and to more easily but I hardly ever create a flight with it. I also use LNM every now and then to import SimBrief plans (which might be another tip for you) and to visualise SIDs and STARs and specially transitions a bit more easily. But well, there are various ways to get things done and it's nice to have options. 😉

I doubt that this will ever happen. I suspect that the majority of simmers don't care about ATC and couldn't distinguish ATC from ACDC

Same here. I used to build flightplans in Simbrief or Navigraph, but converting them to the fpl format often created issues.

Now I just build the flightplan in the MSFS planner, load it up, then cancel IFR, and fly the approach myself, using charts.

Underneath FROM and TO...? It's impossible to miss.
