REX Weather Force

Featured Replies

Not a big fan of MSFS Live Weather.  Rex Weather Force seems to be the only weather add-on. Is it a significant improvement over Live Weather? Is it a recommended add-on?

I use Rex Weather Force but it isn't perfect - Live Weather isn't perfect either.

The biggest plus for live weather is it has a local weather model.  You could be under an area of cloud but you may see clear skies ahead.  Rex weather Force uses a global model, so if under cloud you will not see clear skies ahead, rather the weather will transition between the two different weather areas.  The big plus for Rex Weather Force is the better way it can often show different cloud types in a more convincing way - personal choice of course as many people will prefer Live Weather.

You are no doubt aware of the many weather problems Live Weather has had, BUT it has been improving recently.  REX Weather Force can suffer some FPS loss during weather updates.  I use both Live Weather and REX and like both.

This is incorrect as REX has been updated to be compatible with SU9.

I know it has been updated. The thread recommends WF as a nice alternative to the live weather feature.

Sorry, I was just responding to what you quoted above which was 'I had hoped that the problems some have with live weather (see thread below) had been solved with SU9, but alas, it didn't. Unfortunately REX WeatherForce also seems to suffer as the program crashes. I hope a solution is imminent'.

Yeah, Live Weather still leaves a bit to be desired when it comes to cloud coverage.  One thing I've noticed now (it may not be new for all I know) is that if under skies reported as 'few clouds at X feet", the sim shows not a cloud in the sky.
