MSFS, AI Traffic, Runways and Changing them

Featured Replies

Hi Dave,

First world problem here but thought I'd see if there is a solution or workaround. I'm using MSFS with AIG models and injecting using either REALTRAFFIC/PSXSEECON or just the usual AIG Traffic Controller. Obviously, there is no .BGL traffic using either method and the AI is injected into the sim.

The AI is appearing in the P2ATC and some data fields are populated (altitude, heading, gs etc) but I note the RW and DEST/DEP are not. I presume this is a limiting factor of injecting with AI Traffic Controller or REALTRAFFIC (perhaps @Kaiii3 can comment)?

As a result of not being able to see the landing and departing runways the AI is using (per the above problem) I often get P2ATC give me opposing runways to what is actually in use and what the AI aircraft are using. I've no issue with that persay, my issue i guess is that I can't seem to get P2ATC to accept an arrival runway change. Its occured a number of times now and on each occasion, P2ATC seems to think about the request and then reissue me the original approach/runway.

I'll email a LOG for reference  as it doesn't appear once can be attached to AVSIM posts..... Is there anything I can do to get around this and force the runway change? Or can we use

Cheers,

First, I suggest you update to the latest beta of P2A (2.6.3.0 PB2q).  This version is more likely to align with AI Traffic direction as changes were made to emphasize wind direction in the runway selection.

If you still need to change runways as you approach the destination, there are 2 ways that should work.

1) right after you get your "Expect runway xxx" call, or anytime before that, do a verbal request for an arrival runway change.  This should result in vectors or clearancforto the highest precision approach to the runway you request.

2) Pause the SIM; disconnect from the SIM;  modify your Flt Plan; reconnect, file the new Plan and make the initial call to the controller you were with when you disconnected, like "Center, <CallSign> at Flt Level 320"

Thanks Dave - I'll start by updating to the latest Beta and see if that make a difference before then follow those steps.

Out of interest, when/if Asobo if one was using default online MSFS AI, is P2ATC able to read which runway those aircraft are using? Just thinking ahead for if/when Asobo ever fix their online AI and we as customers no longer need to use programs like AIG Traffic Controller or PSXSEECON to inject traffic into the sim.....  For what its worth I'd be happy to use the default Asobo reatime traffic if it actually put static/parked aircraft at the gates but that seems a bridge too far for them at the moment.
