May 4, 20224 yr Greetings everyone. Any idea why I've got two Navigraph directories in my Community folder? One is named "navigraph-navdata" and the other "navigraph-navdata-base", or something to that extent. I appreciate any insight in advance.
May 4, 20224 yr Posted this in the other thread where you asked about this: The two folders in your community folder are "navigraph-navdata-base" and "navigraph-navdata". The "navigraph-navdata-base" replaces the sims "fs-base-nav" data. If you look near the top of content.xml, you will see that "fs-base-nav" is set to false with "navigraph-navdata-base" set to true immediately after "fs-base-nav". This is the important entry that needs to be reset any time content.xml is deleted and recreated by MSFS, and is done by using Navigraph Navdata Center to remove and then install after MSFS has rebuilt the content.xml file. The "navigraph-navdata" folder is the updated AIRAC cycle data for Navigraph. As long as it is located after all the MSFS "official" content.xml entries, it is good to go. Generally speaking, it can be mixed in with the community folder entries in content.xml, which will happen if you add anything to the community folder after Navigraph is installed. If that does cause an issue, then using Navigraph Navdata Center to remove and install Navigraph will move this entry to the bottom of the list. ...jim ASUS Prime Z790-E, Intel i9 13900K, 32Gb DDR5 Ram, Nvidia 3090 24Gb, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB and 1 TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide 49" G-SYNC Monitor.

To expand on this, the “navigraph-base-nav” folder contains the definitions for navaids - the lat/lon coordinates, frequencies and other parameters of VORs, NDBs, ILS localizers and glideslopes etc. Basically the physical infrastructure of navaids in the sim world. The “navigraph navdata” folder contains procedures - SIDS, STARS, ILS and RNAV approaches. I believe that airways are defined in this folder as well.
