June 12, 20223 yr Just curious. Even the default MSFS ATC knows what via to use so why doesn't SB tell me? Not a real huge problem figuring this all out but I just wonder. It would make life a bit easier. 😉 Edited June 12, 20223 yr by tup61
June 12, 20223 yr My OFPs have transitions built in assuming your FP has a Sid/star built in from the initial setup. Â Can you explain your issue in more detail? Thomas Derbyshire

Oops, my bad... I edited my OP: I of course meant VIA's... Like right now I am using the AGPED1G into Glasgow rwy 23. I have the option for two VIA's, GLW and GOW. Now in this particular case it doesn't make a real difference (because those two are close together but more so because as you should be vectored at the end of the STAR anyway) but there are approaches which have various VIA's that do make a BIG difference and the correct on depends on where you are coming from. SB doesn't show these. Why not? Sometimes a specific VIA can make huge difference!
June 12, 20223 yr I must confess even with navigraph I struggle to know which boa’s I should be using. Is there any YouTube advice around on this particular subject?
June 12, 20223 yr So I recently flew NZDN to NZAA and this is the route from Simbrief taken straight from the OFP NZDN/03 BIDEL3P BIDEL Y477 CH Y175 OMKUN Y655 POKOM Q277 DAVEE DAVEE6A NZAA/23L Note the Sid...BIDEL3P out of RW03 with the BIDEL transition However the Star DAVEE6A doesn't show the VIA to connect you to 23L. In my case I flew the ILS 23L and what you should be doing in your preflight is looking at the chart for ILS 23L on the best way to connect the Star to the approach. In my case its VIA EMRAG so I would select this in the FMC. So to answer your question, Simbrief does NOT show you the VIAs - its upto you to look at the charts and connect the end of the STAR with the beginning of the Approach. Its also equally important to check the Star chosen by Simbrief is indeed the best one depending on aircraft type and type of approach you want to fly. Sometimes simbrief gets this wrong and you need to either manually type in the best Star on Simbrief before you generate your OFP or choose the right one from the list in Simbrief, but again you are only going to know this if you study the charts before you set the flight up. One more thing, its always good practice to ensure the AIRAC data in Simbrief matches what you have in the sim to ensure continuity. If you have a Navigraph subscription this makes it much easier. Hope that makes sense. Thomas Derbyshire

It all makes sense but the question wasn't IF Simbrief shows VIAs but WHY IT DOESN'T. 😉 I already knew SB doesn't show them. I did a flight with default ATC this afternoon and without any input from me (apart from loading the SB plan into MSFS) default ATC told me the correct VIA all by itself... to my surprise...! If MSFS can figure this out all by itself, why can't SB? You would expect VIAs to be a part of the created SB flightplan.

Much prefer routes into EGPH, stuff the STAR - use TLA for your transition.... lol  Least favourite though is EGBB, Hemel1b/Grove..... just no.... 🤣  G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
