Local Airport/Brewery KMDH

Featured Replies

My wife took me out to the local airport where I used to fly out of nearly 20 years ago. For beer. Yup. KMDH in Southern Illinois has a brewery right in the airport whose motto is "8 Hours from Draft to Aircraft" with 14CFR 91.17 cited on the T-Shirt she bought me. They have a "$100 Hamburger" that isn't and $10 beer that is. And really, really good. So I had a few inky black porters then went out watch the SIU students practice crosswind landings. Now that's entertainment! They also have a 737-200. So, your airport probably has stuff mine doesn't, but I bet a brewery isn't one one of them 🙂

Well, I'll drink to that and I think that I'll have more than one draft and extend my time window to 48 hours!  😄

Bottoms Up...

Tim, that sounds like a wonderful afternoon. Van Nuys airport (KVNY) not only has a huge brewery at the end of the runway, but the Keebler Cookie Factory right next to it. The brewery always smelled awful, but the Keebler Cookie Factory smelled wonderful. And yes, I sat and watched for hours and hours... and never saw one single cookie cooking elf. My guess...they simply wander back and forth between the two, probably with a secret underground tunnel to keep the low life riff raff like me from getting in the way of the cookies and the beer.
