July 10, 20223 yr Attempted to add a new FSX scenery, which I've done many times before. My FSX Scenery.cfg file got corrupted; all scenery in it vanished except for the one I was adding. I remember reading somewhere that if you delete the Scenery.cfg file, FSX will rebuild it. I tried that and it didn't work, the same corrupted file with only one entry showed up when I checked the Scenery Library. I'm deleting the Scenery.cfg file from C:Users\User\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX. What am I doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Captain Tom
July 10, 20223 yr The file at C:Users\User\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX is a backup and you really should not have deleted it as it was the one that FSX would have used as a replacement. Here is a link to a replacement file. Add that back and then delete, or rename C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg instead.
July 10, 20223 yr Author Thanks for your quick reply. I did not delete the file, I just changed the extension to .bak so it's still there. Will use your dropbox link to find the replacement file. Many thanks!!! Captain Tom

FSX will replace the scenery.cfg with the plain backup version, but it will not re-build the scenery configuration you had before. You'll have to either re-install the sceneries, or manually add the config entries using the scenery library, or better still, with a good editor like SCE (Scenery Config Editor). This is a problem best defended against with regular backups, so that you might be able to recover the scenery.cfg from a previous snapshot taken when it worked.
