August 22, 20223 yr Hello all, The tower tells me to land on Runway XX. I'd prefer Runway ZZ. The reply, normally, is: "Expect Vectors Runway XX, sidestep Runway ZZ" Where should I land, and why can't I land in my choice of Runway? Thanks, BPilot
August 23, 20223 yr It means you approach towards runwyXX, then brake away after visual and above MDA, manually manoeuvre to align runway ZZ to land. If you don't want do that manoeuvre, you can request an approach to RwyZZ as well, if there is one.
August 23, 20223 yr You are vectored to XX but you land on ZZ (the "sidestep"). This most often occurs when there is an ILS on only one of the parallel runways.
