Fulcrum w/ Blackbird (Milviz) C310

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I'm curious as to FS 2020 sensitivity settings for Fulcrum users with the -310. Trying to obtain much heavier flight control feel and less sensitive pitch/roll. My settings are -65 but still not enough.

Hi Les

While I don't have the C310 so I can't comment on this specifically I would have thought that the controls should feel heavier if modelled so that aileron defection matches control input. We recommend having a perfectly linear response between our yoke and the aileron movement (check in external view with a linear curve) so that the ailerons reach full travel as the yoke reaches full travel. Don't use the in cockpit virtual yoke as reference as this is known to have a strange acceleration to it so will never match until this is resolved. That is only cosmetic though which is why we say to look at the external view.

Now if the flight modelling of an aircraft is too responsive based on aileron movement then that is a different issue, I suppose you can try and tune that out with a curve. In a perfect world we would always have a 1:1 relationship between the movement of the yoke and the ailerons/elevator and the flight modelling should be done to correctly respond to the control surface deflections. I will have a play around with some other heavier aircraft and see how the sim responds.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your valuable input. I will keep experimenting as I don't know what has happened. I even tried the stock C152 and the controls are still way too sensitive. I disconnected ther yoke, restarted MSFS without Fulcrum being connected, then reconnected Fulcrum and started MSFS in an effort to make it think it is a fresh install. Unfortunately, I still have the overly sensitive situation. Should I use Win 10 device manager and select default setting with in-sim sensitvities set to - 0 - in an effort for a fresh start?

You could try creating a new profile in the sim and also run the windows joystick calibration to see if that helps.

How is the aileron movement as you move the yoke?

Unfortunately, nothing seems to work as far as stability is concerned. Regardless of sensitivity settings (from 0 to -75), the result is the same- controls to light and sensitive. Also, regardless of trim, if controls are relaxed, a dive of 1500 FPM is immediate. I've tried the Windows 10 calibration from Device Manager as well as the default setting but nothings seems to make any difference. Most of this is testing is with the Blackbird (Milviz) C310 (with a beta SP1) but the default C152 has a similar result. I'm now going to do some testing in XP11 and 12. This entire situation only began a couple of days ago, possibly a result of an MSFS update. I only have a couple of months experience with MSFS so this whole experience is most likely some sort of operator error.

Hi Les, please let us know how XP11 and 12 respond.

Hi Chris,

XP11 and -12 were perfect. I then went back to Win 10 Device Manager and deleted/re-installed Fulcrum Yoke profile. Now, MSFS and XP11-12 are all spot on, perfect.

Many thanks for inquiry.

Hi Les,

I can't find the Fulcrum yoke listed under my Device Manager in Win10. Could you please explain how and where in your Device Manager it was listed. And what type of profile you re-installed.

I do find the Fulcrum listed under Devices and Printers, and can re-calibrate it there, but nothing under Device Manager although I do see my Saitek Throttle Quadrant and Rudder Pedals listed under Human Interface Devices in the Device Manager.

Thanks,

Al

I didn't find it either in Device Manager but  I just followed these instructions from fulcrum.com support, page 2, item #7 using the Win10 Control Panel, Devices and Printers: instructions1.ai (fulcrumsim.com)
